“Nobody is afraid of the big bad wolf” Former Slam Dunk Champions highlights how Stephen Curry and Co. have become a depleted force in the NBA

Vince Carter and Stephen Curry

So far into the season, Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors are performing well below expectations, losing 8 straight road games, the worst record by a defending champion. Despite Curry averaging 32.8 points this season, the Warriors are 12th in the Western Conference with a 6-9 record. Curry scored season-high 50 points against the Phoenix Suns in a blowout loss. The loss also highlighted some of the glaring problems that the Warriors might be struggling with.

Speaking about the Warriors’ struggle so far into the season, former slam dunk champion Vince Carter said on NBA Today, “Nobody is afraid of the big bad wolf right now.” The former Dunk contest winner also pointed out that except for Stephen Curry none of the players from the Warriors are performing at a high level.

According to Vince Carter, the loss brings out the problems in the open. Speaking of their slump Carter said, “when you are winning you really don’t notice Jordan Poole’s slump or Klay Thompson’s…but winning sweet kind of cures everything.”

According to Carter, the other teams’ approach towards Stephen Curry and the Warriors has changed, he said, “everybody comes out like hey we can beat these guys. We can do this.” and “to add to it, the body language you are seeing, head down….so when you are losing this everything is magnified.”, which Warriors coach Steve Kerr also pointed out.

Speaking of the team’s performance in the post-game media interaction, Kerr said, “I think we are feeling sorry for ourselves….everyone can’t wait to play us and kick our ass.”

Stephen Curry’s 50 points heroic not enough to beat the Phoenix Suns

Stephen Curry put on a show against the Phoenix Suns on Wednesday but could not save the Warriors’ night as the Suns beat them 119-130. Curry scored season-high 50 points for the Warriors, which was the 11th 50-points game of his career.

What stood out as a glaring issue in the game was that all the players in the starting line-up were (-) minus in (+/-) plus/minus scores. Stephen Curry made 7 three points shots of 11 tries, dropped 6 dimes, and was perfect from the charity line.

Curry didn’t talk much about his game but rather talked about the struggles the Warriors are going through, he remarked, “Losing becomes a habit if you don’t fix it.”

Curry said, “We avoided that for a very long time. We are very aware of who we are and our potential. The losing does get old really quick.”

As usual Warriors’ coach Steve Kerr was honest in his opinion and said, “I think for right now, we are just scattered. It’s a pickup game. It’s a pickup game out there.
