“Make the right call” FRUSTRATED Mike Brown reveals his honest thoughts after Kings gets robbed by officials in past two-games
Mike Brown and Kevin Huerter requesting the ref after no-foul call
Mike Brown is back in the NBA headlines and the reason is again very disappointing and frustrating. As the officials have robbed the Sacramento Kings for two games on road. And, both times the team had a real shot at winning the game but the refs either missed the calls or gave no fouls to them. Mike Brown after both the games was nothing but frustrated and unhappy.
First, against the Miami Heat, the Kings were robbed as Tyler Herro drilled a game-winning three-pointer and got the dub for his team. But he traveled on that play which made the results unfair as it shouldn’t be counted. And, coach Mike Brown was very unhappy addressing that situation and the story is very same again as they lost against the Warriors due to not getting a fair whistle.
Stephen Curry made all the great efforts and brought in a dub for his team by dropping 47 points, 8 rebounds and 8 assists. Even his team backed him up very well. But the results could have been very different as even the Sacramento Kings were giving them a rough-and-tough fight and could have won it all if Klay Thompson’s foul on Kevin Huerter was called out by the officials. Mike Brown’s frustration is very understandable but he’s a great coach. As after both those games he backed up his boys.
Addressing the uncalled foul on Kevin Huerter’s attempt to force OT during the final second of the game, coach Mike Brown said: “It’s tough being a Sacramento King, I think, because Kevin got fouled. I know there are missed calls throughout the course of a game — missed calls on us, missed calls on the opponent. I just want at the end of the game, somebody to step up and make the right call. A guy gets hit on the arm shooting a 3, it’s a foul.”
Further, Mike Brown once again addressed Tyler Herro’s game-winner against them and linking it to the Dubs, he quoted: “A guy takes six steps, or three-four steps, it’s a travel. We just want an opportunity to win in overtime. Just like in the Miami game, I asked the ref if it was a foul. He said no. It was clearly a foul.”
Mike Brown then went on to back his team up and while doing so calling out the officials he fearlessly said: “I feel bad because our players fought and they didn’t get an opportunity in overtime. But that’s part of it. But to have two games like that on the road where the whistle is swallowed and there’s a missed call, that’s tough man. That’s tough for my guys in the locker room, because they’re fighting their behinds off.”
Mike Brown and the Sacramento Kings have been unlucky and unfortunately, none of it can be changed. As right now the team is ranked at the 13th spot in the western conference with a 3-6 record which could have been very different if the officials did their job well. As during the Warriors’ game, the final play happened right in front of an in-game official and Kevin Huerter even called him out on the floor and has also shown his unhappiness via a tweet.
Can Mike Brown lead the Kings to playoffs this season?
The Sacramento Kings played their last playoff game on May 4, 2006. Since then they never got across the regular season. But this season things can change as Mike Brown can be the guy who brings a winning culture to the team. He has a bag full of experience since he has spent years with the Golden State Warriors. And, the Kings even though they are down at the moment they look much improved and better this season.
De’Aaron Fox, Malik Monk, Domantas Sabonis, Keegan Murray and many other stars of the team are erupting and looking good with the changes. Mike Brown also has a good energy in the locker room even though they recently got robbed and lost two games. Let’s not forget that between those two match-ups they got into a battle with the Orlando Magic and won over them in style.
So Mike Brown has some real chances to end the playoff drought of the Kings. But the road ain’t easy and requires a lot of efforts from everyone around the franchise. The team will have to bring in some culture and get some veterans on board as they lack experience and leadership. They also need to improve their defensive end and improve their three-point shooting or draft some new plays.
