LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers have been the victims of bad foul calls in the final plays in back-to-back games. Against the Dallas Mavericks, there were two apparent missed calls on game-deciding plays. The misery continued for the Lakers against the Philadelphia 76ers, as there was again a clear foul in the final play that would have given Russell Westbrook a chance to win the game, just with free throws.
The series of bad calls got Lakers fans enraged and some of them went on to say that there might be some conspiracy involved. Alluding to the possibility of a conspiracy, the user wrote in his Tweet, “This must be a MUCH BIGGER STORY than it is.” He also added that the league was altering its own definition of the rule,” he wrote. “What NBA is basically doing, is 2 days in a row, altering their own definition of the rules, their own guidelines to tell the fans to “believe them” instead of our own eyes on Game Deciding Plays! How is this not a Huge Scandal?” he added.
This instigated LeBron to get involved and send some worthy criticisms to the officials. The 18 x NBA All-Star said that the refs keep telling him that they didn’t see. “And all year they keep telling me to my face on the court, “I didn’t see it” or “It wasn’t a foul,” said LeBron. “It’s not making sense to me seriously! Frustrating as hell man! Anyways keep going Squad!” he added.
NBA adds to LeBron James’ frustration says no foul on Russell Westbrook in the final play
The foul against Troy Brown at the end of the regulation was not called for the fall. What looked like, a hit on his shooting hand. Later in the 1st overtime, LeBron drove with the ball in the paint to score a layup, and despite his plead there was no call. Later, the video showed that he was fouled during the play. The Lakers eventually lost the game to Dallas in two overtime.
In the final seconds of the 113-112 loss against Philadelphia, the Lakers had possession of the ball. Russell Westbrook took the ball toward the point from the left wing. Defended by Joel Embiid, Westbrook drove against the big man in the last seconds of the game. The 1 x MVP attached the basket, expecting a foul call, attached the basket but didn’t get the ball. Later, the video replays show that Embiid grabbed Westbrook’s shooting hand, as the Lakers’ guard attacked the basket.
Later Westbrook told the media that the call was outrageous, however, he also said it was also a difficult call in crunch time. “I was trying to get my hand up,” Westbrook told reporters. “I couldn’t get my hand up to shoot because he was grabbing it. But it’s all good,” said Westbrook. Later, NBA released a statement and said that it wasn’t a foul by the big man.“Embiid (PHI) slightly extends his arm before retracting it and marginal arm contact occurs with Westbrook (LAL) during the driving shot attempt,” the L2M report reads.
