“He doesn’t understand basketball” Giannis Antetokounmpo becomes the latest victim of Gilbert Arenas’ hatred
Giannis Antetokounmpo and Gilbert Arenas
Gilbert Arenas has made his way back to the NBA headlines as he recently took a shot at Giannis Antetokounmpo. There’s no doubt about the fact that Greek Freak is one of the best active players in the world of basketball. But still Agent Zero senselessly said that “He doesn’t understand basketball”. Honestly, Giannis Antetokounmpo doesn’t really have a lot left to prove but he’ll have to keep shining as guys keep on throwing shade at him for no reason. Now even Gilbert Arenas has made it to that list as just out of pure hate he disrespected the Milwaukee Bucks megastar.
Giannis Antetokounmpo has just entered his prime and already has got his hands on two regular season MVPs, a DPOY award, an NBA championship and a Finals MVP. His resume is already better than Gilbert Arenas’ career but still, Gibby had a lot to say. Giannis Antetokounmpo in just one championship run which was a legendary one has got himself registered in multiple elite clubs of the league. But still, he isn’t great enough for Gilbert Arenas as recently he got criticized by the former Wizards guard.
Gilbert Arenas takes a critical and disrespecting shot at Giannis Antetokounmpo
Gilbert Arenas on his show “No Chill with Gilbert Arenas”, discussing Giannis Antetokounmpo quoted: “The media tries to shorten his gap it’s like… Oh, he’s the best player in the league. Not even close! Just stop it! So this gap is so big but you trying to always replace the next person by putting him in. Like his work… I can look at his game and say he doesn’t understand basketball yet. Like he plays the sport, he won a championship cool but he really doesn’t understand how to be great, how to be better. How to train his body… You know I am looking at the stat sheet playing 32 minutes and 34 minutes. But I am sorry like for you to be here you have to train your body to at least 38 minutes and above…”
Gilbert Arenas take may look sensible but it doesn’t really make any sense. As him saying Giannis Antetokounmpo isn’t great yet or doesn’t know how to be great is just foolish. As the place, Greek Freak came from and the work he put in to be a superstar in the league itself says how great he and his story is. Also, he has a very high basketball IQ and has been on the fortunate winning end too so to call him out for not understanding the game but being able to lead a team to a championship is just senseless. Maybe Gibby wanted to convey something else but if it was limited to this take of his then it doesn’t make any sense. As Giannis Antetokounmpo deserves no part of the shade thrown at him.
