Giannis Antetokounmpo is slowly becoming the new face of the NBA with his ever-dominating skills. For almost the last nine years, the player has been an absolute monster for his team, the Milwaukee Bucks. Since the start of his career, the Greek Freak has made the playoffs seven times and won the championship last season.
At the age of 27, Antetokounmpo has achieved a lot including being named a six-time all-star. He won the league’s most valuable player award in 2019 after averaging 29.5 points, 13.6 rebounds, and 5.6 assists per game leading his team to the Eastern Conference playoffs. The following year he became a member of the elite group of back-to-back MVPs winning the defensive player of the year award along with it. He is one of five players to have ever done it.
Giannis Antetokounmpo says Los Angeles is too much for him to handle
In a recent public interview with TMZ, Giannis Antetokounmpo was spotted in the streets of Los Angeles with his girlfriend and child. As he walked out of a fancy restaurant in LA, he was asked about his dining experience in the city. The European superstar replied saying, “Expensive, expensive. This city is not for me.” We all know that Giannis is a very fun-loving character who liked to wear a smile and helped others to do the same.
Unfortunately, the Bucks had an early exit in the playoffs after the Boston Celtics defeated them in the conference semifinals. Sharpshooter Khris Middleton was sidelined due to an injury and this drastically hurt their performance. They faced the same issue earlier in the season after he entered health and safety protocols due to COVID-19. As a result, the Bucks were left stagnated along with the losing teams in the division.
Giannis Antetokounmpo signs a massive deal with Milwaukee Bucks
Giannis Antetokkounmpo has one of the biggest paychecks in the entire league. Prior to defeating the Phoenix Suns in the NBA finals last year, he signed a $228 million max contract with the team before the season commenced. For him to say he cannot afford LA’s prices may have been a joke as he has made over $300 million since turning pro.
However, if he genuinely felt that way about the prices it could mean he has no interest in joining the Western Conference teams. The West has had plenty of success over the recent years and is a hotspot for athletes like him to be signed. There is definitely more to see from the Greek baller as he has much more time to be spent in the NBA.
