The NBA All-Star weekend is finally behind us, with teams now gearing up for the last few games of this NBA season. Some players and coaches were critical of the All-Star game. Nonetheless, many people enjoyed it owing to the incredible moments it delivered. Giannis Antetokounmpo, as the captain, chose Damian Lillard with his first pick of the reserves, shocking the basketball world.

Interstingly, everyone anticipated him to select his Milwaukee Bucks teammate Jrue Holiday ahead of Dame, but he surprised everyone. Antetokounmpo, it turns out, was well aware of his reason for picking the Portland Trail Blazers star from the start.

“I feel Damian Lillard on our team, I really believe Damian Lillard. … he’s going to close the game out,” said Giannis. “The year I won, he was the one who took it from halfcourt and – made it. He had about 35,” he added.

Giannis took his job as general manager seriously when he picked his All-Star squad on Sunday night. Lillard was at the top of his reserves list for a reason. In exchange for his faith in the talented point guard, he hit the game-winning shot for Team Giannis, giving him his first win as team captain in three tries.

On Monday, Giannis Antetokounmpo travelled to New York for more tests on his injured right wrist. The testing revealed a damaged ligament in the wrist, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski. He’ll get wrist therapy and miss a few games as he recovers. Yet, it does not look that the injury will jeopardise his season, which is great news for the Milwaukee Bucks.

Giannis suffered a wrist injury in the Bucks’ final game before the All-Star break. Early in the second quarter of the game against the Chicago Bulls, he awkwardly stumbled around the basket stanchion while attempting to block a layup by Coby White. As he extended his right arm to steady himself as he fell, his wrist got caught. He appeared to be in excruciating pain in the aftermath, and he made no attempt to continue playing. After checking out, he returned to the locker room, where he was soon pronounced ineligible for the rest of the evening.

Giannis eventually missed Saturday night’s All-Star Skills Challenge due to his injury. Bucks point guard Jrue Holiday joined Team Antetokounmpos, joining forces with his brothers Thanasis and Alex. Unfortunately, the group finished dead last in the competition.

Giannis participated in the initial 20 seconds of the All-Star Game on Sunday, scoring one basket. Nonetheless, the most of his preparation occurred prior to the game when he carried out his captaincy duties during the All-Star Draft. He eventually selected the winning side, as Team Antetokounmpo defeated Team LeBron 184-175.
