Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo was seen in a rather unusual place on Friday. He had taken up coaching duties alongside brother Thanasis for Dwyane Wade’s team during the All-Star Celebrity Game. The Greek Freak was visibly having fun via banter with referee Richard Jefferson.
The Journal Sentinel interviewed him after the game and Giannis Antetokounmpo said, “Afterwards, when I retire, I want to be a head coach. A lot of people don’t know that about me, but I want to be a head coach. I really want to be. It’s kind of hard because you have no control. And, I know the game of basketball, I know how to play the game of basketball, so it’s hard “.
Antetokounmpo successfully coached team Dwyane Wade to an 81-78 victory over team Ryan Smith. The game saw a lot of big names headlining the weekend. WWE Superstar The Miz almost pulled off a miraculous victory for Team Ryan with a half-court buzzer beater, but it was unfortunately waved off. DK Metcalf of the Seattle Superhawks was named MVP after putting up 20 points and 10 rebounds for team Dwyane.

Giannis Antetokounmpo on Thursday night became the Milwaukee Bucks’ all-time assists leader after passing the ball to Jevon Carter who swished a three in the first quarter against the Chicago Bulls. Giannis now has 3,274 assists, two more than previous record holder Paul Pressey. Shortly afterwards, he contested a finger roll by Coby White and ended up spraining his wrist.
When asked about how he was feeling after the fall on Friday as he walked into Huntsman Arena, Antetokounmpo asked, “What fall? That was yesterday, man. That’s old news. It’s a brand new day, man. A good day to be alive.”
Following the game on Thursday, Bucks head coach Mike Budenholzer said, “I think the initial reports were hopeful. The X-ray was clean and he’s got a sprain. We’ll just, I think, see how he feels tomorrow, see how he feels the next few days and continue to evaluate it.”
Antetokounmpo will captain Team Giannis in the 30th All-Star Game on Sunday and will be hoping to take down LeBron James’ team. The game is set to take place at the Vivint Smart Home Arena.
