Kyle Kuzma was drafted by the Los Angeles Lakers in 2017 and had a great rookie year filled with memorable moments. Yet, when asked, he chose one specific moment to define his rookie year.

To put it into context, he was asked about his” welcome to the NBA” moment on Twitter. He said:

I hit Boogie with a nice up and under then bro said he was gonna clothesline my light skin ass if I did it again

The game in question was a Los Angeles Lakers versus New Orleans Pelicans match that took place in October 2017 and ended with a score of 112 to 119. For Kyle Kuzma, it was just his third game ever. Taking a pass from his then-teammate Tyler Ennis, Kuzma steps towards the basket, only to find Pelicans center DeMarcus Cousins coming over to defend him. Kuzma fakes the ball up, which causes Cousins to jump to defend it. Only for Kuzma to bring the ball down and pass it to Andrew Bogut.

This move is termed as the “Up and Under” in the NBA. DeMarcus Cousins was seen looking back in embarrassment over the then-rookie’s move. Cousins was an All-Star player in 2017. He was considered one of the best big men in the league. Cousins was also in his prime in those years.

So, to be embarrassed by Kyle Kuzma, a rookie, did not sit well with Cousins. According to Kuzma, that move brought out that response from Cousins.

In 2019 DeMarcus Cousins faced off with Kyle Kuzma again. This time donning the Golden State Warriors jersey, Cousins posterized Kuzma during their 115 to 101 win against the Lakers.

Fans around the NBA say that the dunk on Kuzma was the most embarrassing moment in Kuzma’s career. However, it is not known if the two have a feud or bad blood between them.
