The New York Knicks are currently on a 3-game losing streak and Julius Randle seems to have had it with the referees. Randle argued with a referee after a no-call in what was a clear foul on him. He then proceeded to argue with his teammate who was urging him to leave the discussion. Randle had to be escorted by the Knicks’ assistant head coach.

NBA Twitter had some crude reactions to this incident as Randle was very rude towards Immanuel Quickley in this altercation. Fans questioned the team spirit of the Knicks as they are on a losing streak as well. “We’re getting swept in the playoffs if Randle doesn’t get his head straight,” said one fan on Twitter in regards to Randle losing his cool on his teammates. Despite their recent failures the Knicks are still the 5th seed and will surely be a participant in this year’s playoffs. Here are some of the best reactions from Twitter:

Most tweets surrounded Randle’s maturity and realizing his behavior’s implications on his playoff ability. If Randle were to lose his cool in a playoff game and get ejected, the Knicks know they would be nothing without him. One fan urged them to trade Randle while his trade value was high. “This is why Knicks need to trade him while his value is high. He’s a head case, and every other year he spirals,” Tweeted @mindjitsu. Randle is responsible for leading the Knicks to the playoffs for only the second time in his career.

The Eastern Conference standings are not set in stone yet, but the way things are looking now, the New York Knicks and Cleveland Cavaliers are likely to meet. The 4&5 seeds are both over 1.5 games away from their nearest competition. The Cavaliers and Knicks will face each other in the playoffs for the first time since 1996 in a massive series for both teams. The Cavaliers will look to prove their young core can do wonders. However, the Knicks are set out for redemption after getting knocked out in the first round in 2021 and missing the playoffs in 2022.

Despite his controversies with referees, Julius Randle has been the focus of the New York Knick’s success this season. Randle is averaging 25 points and ten rebounds this season. Randle was also the only New York Knicks to be an all-star this season. The Knicks know his value, and all fans want him to do is prove his maturity.

In the 2021 playoffs, Randle shot an abysmal 29% from the field in the New York Knicks’ 5-game loss to the Atlanta Hawks. Despite having the home seed, the Knicks let Atlanta go through and made it to the conference finals. Julius Randle will look to change the narratives around his playoff game this season and the Cavaliers, as Randle scored 36 points in their last meeting.
