The Los Angeles Clippers picked their eleventh straight victory against the Los Angeles Lakers in Russell Westbrook‘s return to LA. Westbrook was on fire in the first half and was seen pointing and looking at LeBron James after making multiple shots. The King was seen with a shocked look on his face on the bench as Westbrook took over the game in the first quarter.

NBA Twitter went in on Lebron following the Laker’s loss, as he had to see yet another player leave Los Angeles and become better. “Westbrook out playing him to that’s crazy,” said one fan on Twitter as LeBron himself had a horrible first half for the Lakers getting off to a very slow start. The Lakers were down by 19 points at halftime in an embarrassing home loss.

Westbrook made two threes in the first quarter, one right in LeBron James’ face. Westbrook was going off while LeBron struggled, which made the Clippers and Russell Westbrook fans quite happy. Russ and Bron have maintained a good relationship, but they seem to have taken a tumble since Westbrook’s horrible stint in LA.

Bron was shook bc bro was finally hitting shots,” said another fan on Twitter as Russell Westbrook shot 50% from the field and three-point range last night. Westbrook shot just 29% from three over 130 games for the Los Angeles Lakers, which would have shocked the Lakers after his performance last night. However, The King could still have the last laugh as they are just one game behind the Clippers with two games left to go this season.

The Los Angeles Clippers have set themselves up in a position to play a dominant and motivated Phoenix Suns team in the playoffs, and winning in LA could backfire for them. “He can point all he wants, HE will be the one that loses to the Suns first round, not LeBron,” replied one the fan to Westbrook’s taunts towards LeBron last night. The Suns have a six-game win streak and a history of beating the Clippers in the playoffs as recently as 2021.

Some fans went in on the fact that Russell Westbrook did not play any minutes in the fourth quarter and played just 21 minutes the whole game. Conversely, the King had 16 third-quarter points and ended the game with 33 points shooting 65% from the field. “Had like 2 points the rest of the game“, said one fan in regards to all of Westbrook’s highlights from last night being from the first half.

he Lakers and the Clippers have never met each other in the playoffs despite having such a strong rivalry over the years. If the Clippers slip to the 6th seed and the Lakers stay at 7, there could be a historical second round matchup on the cards. This is a rare NBA season wherein the lower seed in the Western Conference have a better chance of progressing than higher ones.
