Los Angeles Clippers superstar Kawhi Leonard achieved a new personal best for minutes played in an NBA game and Twitter cannot stop trolling him for it. Kawhi played 46:02 minutes in a 2OT loss against the Sacramento Kings. Kawhi has famously load-managed his entire career since he got injured in 2017. “Lucky if he plays 46 mins a season these days“, said one fan on Twitter regarding how frequently Kawhi has been injured since arriving in LA.
“Damn he’s gonna need to be rested until the playoffs after that one“, said another fan on Twitter. Kawhi does not have a good reputation when it comes to regular season games. He is known to miss back-to back games frequently and random games in between based on ‘load management’. Here are some more reactions to Kawhi’s load management:
Leonard was involved in the 2nd highest-scoring NBA match of all time v the Kings. After two overtimes and some clutch buckets, the game ended 176-175 for the Kings. Kawhi might have played these many minutes for the first time but he put on a show for the entire 46 minutes he was on. 44 points while shooting 73% from the field, Kawhi Leonard was in the mood. ‘The Klaw’ might indeed sit out the next few games but he does look ready to take on the playoffs.

Kawhi Leonard and the Clippers can make some noise this playoffs
The Los Angeles Clippers are currently the 5th-seed in the West and a lock to make the postseason. Kawhi has played just 35 games so far this season but is averaging a healthy 22 points a game while shooting 50% from the field and 39% from three. The Clippers are a very different team without Kawhi as they are 10-17 without the Klaw this season and 23-12 with him.
The Clippers average 9 more points per game when Kawhi is on the floor which is why fans want to see him more. There is no doubting Kawhi’s abilities on the court as he has proven them in the past. Kawhi is a 2x NBA Champion, 2x Finals MVP and back-to-back DPOY winner. However, the best ability is always available and Kawhi lacks that. While being such an important member of the Clippers, he has to take some responsibility and play more games.
The Los Angeles Clippers as it stands would be playing the Phoenix Suns in the first round. KD and Kawhi last played a playoff series against each other in 2019 during the NBA finals. It was that year KD suffered his career-altering injury and Kawhi won Toronto their first ring. Times have changed vastly since then as Durant and Kawhi are both trying to win their respective franchises their first-ever championship right now. If Kawhi can keep up his minutes maybe the Clippers can finally go all the way.
