In light of recent events, former NBA star Paul Pierce made an appearance on Showtime Basketball and had a hilarious conversation about the famous rapper Lil Baby. Pierce in the episode Showtime Podcast shed light on the current struggles of the LA Clippers since the blockbuster trade of James Harden took place. The former NBA superstar suggests and advises the Clippers to hire Lil Baby as an assistant coach, to make things work with James Harden on the roster.
The LA Clippers since Harden has arrived as a new addition to the team have been on a losing streak and have lost six consecutive games in the ongoing NBA regular season. The catch here is the evident issues of the lack of chemistry and coordination between the players and James Harden that has to be addressed as the Clippers roster is filled with stars including Paul George, Kawhi Leonard, Russell Westbrook, and Harden who are known to be dominant ball handlers and hold similar caliber.
With the current struggles of the Clippers being taken into consideration, the former Boston Celtics superstar gave hilarious advice to the team to hire the rapper Lil Baby, so to make things work. Pierce said on SHOWTIME Basketball:
I got something that can fix the Clippers. If the Clippers hire Lil Baby as an assistant coach then they're gonna go somewhere. They need to hire Lil Baby to be an assistant coach.
Pierce added:
He goin' help out with James Harden. He gon' help the chemistry. Just a thought, I'm just saying.
The reason behind this suggestion was that James Harden and rapper Lil Baby are close friends and have been seen hanging out together during the time of the offseason. Pierce jokes about the fact that if Harden could have such a good rapport and chemistry with Lil Baby, he could put in the effort to do the same with the rest of the team as well.
Head Coach of the LA Clippers, Ty Lue admits that it is challenging to coach the team post the Harden trade
The Los Angeles Clippers head coach Ty Lue in a media interaction opened up about his thoughts regarding how challenging it has been for him as a coach to train the team since the arrival of James Harden post his trade in the offseason. The Clipper’s roster is a star-studded one with dominant ball handlers present such as Paul George, Kawhi Leonard, Russell Westbrook, and the new addition James Harden. With four stars on the same roster, Lue admits that it’s tough to get them all sacrificing for each other.
Lue suggests that James Harden’s trade to the Clippers has been one of the toughest parts of the job of training the team he has ever had in his career as a head coach. He said:
This is my toughest challenge as a head coach, but I'm up for the task for sure. The biggest thing is getting these guys to sacrifice for guys, whether that's starting the game, finishing the game, shots, touches, who's running pick-and-rolls, and things like that. Getting these guys to sacrifice will be the biggest challenge all season.
The LA Clippers so far have been putting in their maximum effort to compensate for the six consecutive losses they had. With a 3-7 record in the league so far, they have found it very difficult to get back up, especially since the James Harden trade to the team.
