“I call myself the modern-day Reggie,” Klay Thompson opens up on where he gets his mentality from
Klay Thompson cited Reggie Miller and Kobe Bryant as his inspirations throughout his career following the Warriors win against Minnesota

Golden State Warriors shooting guard Klay Thompson has been on a hot streak lately, averaging 32PPG in his last three games. When asked about where he gets his competitive spirit in year 12, Klay said, “Watching the ‘90’s’90s and 2000’s… The greatest ever players were the biggest competitors.” Klay Thompson’s dad is a former NBA player (Mychal Thompson) which means Klay was always close to the game from a young age and it is what he attributes to his competitiveness too.
“Being the shooting guard I am I idolize Kobe Bryant…My style resembles that of Reggie Miller. I call myself the modern-day Reggie.”, said Klay on the players who inspired him to be great. Kobe Bryant and Reggie Miller are perfect comparisons as Klay has the killer mentality of Kobe along with Reggie’s elite shooting. Reggie Miller also got into many scuffs himself and famously taunted celebrity Knicks fan Spike Lee by making a “choke” symbol after the Pacers came back to beat the Knicks in the playoffs.
“Reggie got in so many scraps, got under so many people’s skin“, said Klay while describing the similarities between himself and Reggie. Klay is no stranger to scraps as he has been involved in quite a few in his time in the league. Having been to six NBA finals it is almost impossible for Klay to not get in a scrap. As recent as this season, Klay was seen getting chirpy with Devin Booker. The pair were ejected during the game and Klay taunted the Phoenix fans by pointing to his four rings.

Stephen Curry has been injured for some time now, putting the Warriors in a tough spot this season. Currently sitting in the 7th seed with a .500 record, Golden State do not look like defending champions. However, Klay Thompson seems to have found his rhythm lately. He is averaging 25 points in his last 10 games while shooting 45% from three. The Warriors have still only managed to go 5-5 in this stretch despite Klay and Jordan Poole giving their best.
The Warriors are just 1.5 games behind the 4th-seeded Suns in a jam-packed conference. Only three games separate the 4th seed and the 13th seed in the West. The Warriors will be wary of the fact that losing comes with a huge cost at this point of the season.
If Klay can take the Warriors to a guaranteed playoff seed they will be a threat for sure. Once Curry is back, the Warriors will probably be equipped to run through the playoffs as they did last year. This team has experience as well as skill, it is just about getting the puzzle pieces together. Steph Curry will be out for at least another week and Klay will have to keep this streak going to keep Golden State afloat.
