“I’m taking Tyrese Maxey over James Harden” – Former NBA champion SCRAPS OUT ‘The Beard’ from Sixers’ best players conversation
James Harden is having a tough time being a favourite in his own team as Brian Scalabrine chooses Tyrese Maxey over “The Beard.”

Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey are the favourites as Philadelphia 76ers are comfortably leading the series 2-0 against Brooklyn Nets. A name that should also be a part of this conversation is “The Beard” James Harden. Unluckily for Harden, he isn’t having the best time. Former NBA Champion, Brian Scalabrine had some words to say regarding the same on the SiriusXM NBA Radio Show. Well, the conversation included words of appreciation for rising star Maxey, but it turned out to sound like Harden slander.
Brian Scalabrine, former NBA Champion with the Boston Celtics in 2008 was in conversation with ESPN’s Frank Isola. While the duo were discussing the playoff contenders Philadelphia 76ers, Scalabrine happened to point out his favourite players from the squad. Scalabrine stated that he believes Tyrese Maxey is the second-best player on the Philadelphia 76ers, behind only Joel Embiid. He went on to say that he would even take Maxey over James Harden, who is widely regarded as one of the best players in the league.
Scalabrine said, “What makes James Harden special is his ability to get downhill, get fouls and score the basket.” He added, “That’s what made him the MVP…Man, he’s far from that right now.”
Scalabrine then went on to talk about the fate of the Sixers not being under his control but what he would favour. He said, “I watch them, I say, ‘that guy right there…number zero [Tyrese Maxey]. There is your second-best player. [after Embiid]’” He then went on to strengthen his points by stating that Maxey is a “star” who pushes “25-30 every night.” He also said, “I don’t even think Tyrese Maxey knows it.” As “James Harden is still walking around like he is an All-NBA Player.”

James Harden and the Philadelphia 76ers, is the Sixers chapter nearing its end for “The Beard?”
Harden and the Philadelphia 76ers seemed like a perfect match for each other when “The Beard” signed with the team. Though, that false image seems to have gone away as Harden isn’t even Top 2 in his own team, according to many. Harden, like his previous self hasn’t performed the way fans would expect him to. He is averaging 21 points, 10.7 assists and 6.1 rebounds this season, which is nowhere close to his career best.
Reports also suggest that Harden might want to go back to the Houston Rockets who are planning on signing the player this post-season. This is, provided, Harden uses his player option to become a free agent. The player holds a player option for the upcoming season, which grants him the choice to decline his contract with the Philadelphia 76ers. It seems that both Harden and the Rockets share the same sentiment. Despite his current goal of aiding the Sixers in winning the championship, the former MVP reportedly had plans of reuniting with Houston in the summer of 2023, which the Rockets were aware of when they traded him.
With the likes of 22-year-old Tyrese Maxey taking over the squad after MVP contention leader, Joel Embiid. Harden’s future with the 76ers is highly questionable. Though all these discussions are still speculative, nothing substantial seems to be coming from the man himself. It’ll be interesting to see how Harden performs for the team from now on as things are about to get serious.
