NBA insider believes Pau Gasol has a greater LA Lakers legacy than LeBron James
Pau Gasol LeBron James and Mark Medina
NBA insider Mark Medina thinks that Los Angeles Lakers legend LeBron James’ legacy will always be secondary when compared to NBA great Pau Gasol. He was a top-notch player who partnered late Kobe Bryant to win two of his championships. However, Rob’s statement seemed to have not been digested by many.
On his show ‘The Odd Couple,’ Mark Medina said, “LeBron’s obviously a better player than Pau. But as far as what they mean to the Lakers organization, Pau Gasol is light years more important than LeBron James. He won more titles than LeBron James.” LeBron hasn’t succeeded in leading the LA Lakers out of the hole since winning the 2020 title; they recorded 4-10 this season.
Mark added, “Before Pau Gasol arrived there, he was going on every single radio show demanding a trade because he was upset with all the losing. Pau was that bridge of making sure that Kobe was able to win championships after Shaq was traded. Pau represents a lot more important things than LeBron.” LeBron and Anthony Davis are often regarded as one of the top duos in the NBA, but they could lead the team to a championship once, and the next two seasons have turned out disastrous since then.
LeBron James’ stint with the Los Angeles Lakers
Everyone knows what LA Lakers legend LeBron James’ caliber and his illustrious NBA career even if his time with the Lakers franchise has been as good as his daunting career. He signed with the Lakers to become an unrestricted free agent as he opted out of contact with the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2018.
He led the Lakers to the playoffs soon in 2019 season as the number one seed in the West who advanced to the Finals with only three losses. In the conference Finals fifth game against the Nuggets, James nailed 38 points including 16 in the last quarter. In the NBA Finals, James and his troupes registered quick wins against his former team, the Miami Heat and eventually game the LA Lakers their 17th NBA championship win.
In Game 5, James had his best stats performance of the Finals with 40 points, 13 rebounds, and seven assists in a memorable duel with Miami’s Jimmy Butler, but Los Angeles was ultimately defeated in a three-point game. Since then, it has been all bad luck for the LA Lakers, as they have seen a constant downfall.
