Is Draymond Green suspended for Game 3 vs. Kings? NBA hands out verdict
Tough blow for the Dubs as the former DPOY suspended for Game 3 vs the Kings.
The Golden State Warriors finally entered the playoffs as a sixth-seeded team this year. Playing versus the Sacramento Kings in the first round, the Dubs stumbled in the first two games. The Kings got the best out of the Warriors to go up 2-0 in the series. Both the games were pretty close, but the Kings somehow kept the Warriors at bay. The Warriors will now host the Kings at Chase Center for the next two games.
Though apart from the Dubs being down 0-2, what’s more, concerning is the Game 2 incident. Draymond Green was ejected in the fourth quarter for stepping on Domantas Sabonis as he grabbed his leg. This incident made the NBA world wonder if Green’s reaction was intentional. After constant evaluation of the play, the league came out with a verdict.
The league isn’t supporting the reaction by Draymond Green
As Game 3 is set to tip off on Thursday, the league had to come up with a verdict regarding the Game 2 situation. People around the internet had different opinions on Green’s reaction to Sabonis grabbing his leg. Some argued that it was intentional, while others believed that Green lost his balance at that moment. However, the league announced that Green would be suspended for one game, that being Game 3 on April 20th, without pay. This statement also highlighted Green’s unsportsmanlike behavior in the past.
Green had a similar incident last year versus the Grizzlies in the playoffs when he ripped off Brandon Clarke’s jersey and was ejected from the game. With the Dubs already stumbling in this series, they’ll have to play without their facilitator in Game 3. Things do not seem good at all for the Warriors, as they’re already down 0-2. Looking at the statistics, Golden State is 0-9 when down 0-2 in a best-of-seven series.
While the Dubs will have a home-court advantage, playing without Draymond might be a problem. Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson continue to do their job, whereas their scoring backup, Donte DiVincenzo and Jordan Poole, seem to be out of place.
Going down 0-3 would be something every team would avoid, as no team in the history of the postseason has come back from that deficit. Especially for the Warriors, they’ll have to take the best out of the next two games. Game 3 would be comparatively tough, as they’ll be on the floor without their best forward. It will be interesting to see how the Dubs will hold off the highly confident Kings. Who is your pick for Game 3? Let us know in the comments.
