Isiah Thomas is back in the NBA headlines and the reason is again his classic 90s stories. And, this time it’s not about Michael Jordan instead we have The Mailman, Karl Malone. The Utah Jazz legend Karl Malone once manhandled Isiah Thomas in the paint which basically gifted Zeke a medical trip and took away his vision for a while.
This unfortunate and maybe intentional incident happened after the selection for the 1992 Dream Team was done and the list was out. Isiah Thomas was robbed in that list and all of it is revealed in Michael Jordan’s documentary, “The Last Dance”. It was Black Jesus and the company’s hate towards Isiah Thomas and the Pistons which would have made the team environment uncomfortable and awkward. So he wasn’t listed and got snubbed out.
Isiah Thomas though deserved to be there as he was the perfect guard back in the days and his addition would have just made the team better. Even though he got robbed he didn’t hate on no one at that time. As he revealed recently while talking to Peter Vecsey about some unforgettable moments of his career. There he also discussed the hurting interaction he had with Karl Malone.

The Utah Jazz and the Detroit Pistons were going against each other after the 1992 Dream Team’s selection. Isiah Thomas was on fire and had big time points just like the last time where he dropped 44 points. He was about to add two more to it as he drived in for the rim. But unfortunately, he met Karl Malone who gifted him 42 stitches with an elbow straight on the face. Talking about it and the snub from Dream Team Zeke shocked the world by his words.
As Isiah Thomas said: “I watched every game and rooted for them because I really had no animosity for anybody at the time… Karl Malone hit me later, he hadn’t hit me then…42 stitches, he hit me after the selection. I had 44 points he missed me by two stitches.” The Two time NBA champion had jokes and a title, unlike the Mailman who was ejected, suspended for a game and fined $10,000 by the league for his unnecessary and dirty action.
