Kevin Durant is a two-time NBA champion and a two-time Finals MVP. He is one of the most skilled scorers to ever play and is also versatile on both ends of the floor. KD is now playing for his fourth team, the Phoenix Suns. Durant was traded in February of 2022 in a blockbuster trade to the Suns, making them a title contender. Playing alongside Devin Booker and Chris Paul, Durant has established this team as a strong favorite to win the West.
Kevin won his two championships with the Golden State Warriors after which he joined the Nets. From the looks of it, the Suns look pretty strong going ahead in the playoffs. This would be Durant’s third championship, cementing his career in the GOAT conversations. Though for Kevin, his next ring wouldn’t really be about him or his career.
KD had his time in Oklahoma but after years of being contenders, the farthest he went with this team was to the Finals. Durant took OKC to new heights alongside Russell Westbrook. But in the end, he decided to move to a different team after which he finally won a championship. While this move of his seemed like a career decision, Durant recently highlighted what a third championship would mean to him.
Leading 3-1 in the first round versus the Clippers, KD was asked about his thoughts on winning another title. “I want to win a title for a city, for my teammates, for my organization. Is it going to get me more notoriety, more attention, a ring? It’s not really about me. That’s how I look at championships.”, said Durant.
Kevin Durant is still one of the purest scorers
Leading his team with Booker, KD has shown his skills are not yet covered in rust. After a 4-0 sweep versus the Boston Celtics in the last postseason, fans came to question Durant’s ability to lead a team in the playoffs.
So far into the postseason, he is averaging 27 points and eight rebounds. As he continues to put up MVP numbers in the postseason, it will be interesting to see if the Suns can win the West.
Kevin Durant does seem to be patient to win another title, but it will be interesting to see whether he can win his third championship for the Suns.
