Ja Morant may have just cost himself a lot of money and respect. The latest incident has allegedly led Nike to cut ties with Morant, who had signed a multi-year endorsement deal with the company in 2019.
On Thursday morning, according to TMZ, Morant’s signature shoes, the Ja 1s, were nowhere to be found on Nike’s app and website. The only exception was a new ‘Hunger’ colorway that is set to drop on May 25. Other retailers and resellers still have Ja 1s in stock, but it is unknown how long they will last.
The Grizzlies guard, who has been one of the most electrifying players in the NBA this season, was again seen brandishing a gun on Instagram Live on Saturday. This was the second time in the past three months that Morant was caught with a firearm on social media. The first time was back in March when he was suspended for eight games by the NBA after he was filmed at a strip club in Colorado with a gun in his hand.
Morant has been suspended under further notice by the Grizzlies and the NBA while they investigate the matter. According to Adrian Wojnarowski on Twitter, Morant said that he knows that he has disappointed a lot of his fans and also added that he’ll take full accountability for his actions.

NBA Twitter reacts to Ja Morant’s blunder
Morant’s actions have not gone unnoticed by NBA fans, who took to Twitter to roast him for his stupidity and hypocrisy. Here are some of the tweets from Twitter roasting him:
Fans just can’t stop roasting Morant after his “stupid” display. Some even compared him to Gilbert Arenas, who was suspended for the rest of the 2009-10 season after he brought guns into the Wizards locker room and threatened his teammate Javaris Crittenton. Some fans also questioned Morant’s judgment and leadership, wondering why he would jeopardize his career and reputation for such a senseless act.
Morant, who averaged 26.2 points and 8.1 assists per game this season, was a bright spot for the Grizzlies, who got knocked out by the Los Angeles Lakers in six games in the first round of the Playoffs. However, his off-court troubles may have overshadowed his on-court achievements and damaged his image and future.
