Morant has always given power-packed performances for his team and can single-handedly take them to the playoffs. Recently, he showed a glimpse of his talent against the Detroit Pistons team.
It is the pre-season game time in the NBA, with the regular season to start soon. The Memphis Grizzlies were playing against the Detroit Pistons. The ball was with Detroit Pistons forward Bojan Bogdanovic, and Morant was defending him. For a moment, Bojan lost control of the ball, and that’s when Morant pounced, stole the ball away, and sprinted toward the basket. He made a behind-the-back move and slammed the ball in the basket for a monstrous dunk.
Ja Morant scored 31 points and eight rebounds as the Memphis Grizzlies won with a scoreline of 126-111 over the Detroit Pistons on Thursday night. Desmond Bane went 1 for seven from a 3-pt range and scored 16 points for Memphis. Brandon Clarke scored 16 points while playing extended minutes after starting center Stephen Adams left with a sore neck. The Memphis fans were quick to comment as soon as the above YouTube video went viral. Few of those comments can be seen below:
Ja Morant makes it on the top 10 NBA guards’ list
Recently, Bleacher Report ranked the NBA’s top 25 guards. Dallas Mavericks superstar Luka Doncic tops the list, Golden State Warriors veteran Stephen Curry, Memphis Grizzlies Ja Morant, Atlanta Hawks Trae Young, and Phoenix Suns Devin Booker make it to the top 5 in the list for the 2022-2023 NBA season. For the third consecutive year, Dallas Mavericks star player Luka Doncic enters the season as the betting favorite to win the league’s MVP award.
Bleacher Report’s Greg Swartz quoted, “Even watching Luka Doncic play as a rookie, it was clear he was destined to join the league’s elite players before long; while he’s always put-up numbers, a lack of conditioning seemed to hold Doncic back from reaching his massive potential.” He added, “Now, the 23-year-old looks slimmer than ever and is coming off a playoff performance where he averaged 31.7 points in 15 games to lead all postseason scorers.”
