Ja Morant registered a monster triple-double and the Memphis Grizzlies defeated the Oklahoma City Thunder on Wednesday night thanks to a second-half burst. Over the past couple of seasons, Ja Morant has been among the most interesting young athletes to watch. Morant rapidly won the hearts of the fans because of his incredible athleticism and courtside performances. The Grizzlies star is now having a great time because it has been rumored that he is close to securing a signature sneaker deal with sportswear giant Nike after they parted company with Kyrie Irving.

Morant is no stranger to the player comparison obsession; at only 23 years old, he already seems to be an annual MVP contender. He played superbly against the Thunder in yesterday’s game and became the franchise’s all-time leader in triple-doubles. But his dexterous and athletic layup in the game stood out the most.

With about 5 minutes left in the third quarter, Morant received the ball on a fastbreak opportunity in the Grizzlies’ offense. After using a hesitation move to create space between himself and the defender beyond the arc, he drove inside in hopes of dunking the ball. He then met Aleksej Pokusevski who was challenging the drive and attempted a smooth layup adjusting the ball in mid-air and making it.

The Memphis Grizzlies take care of business versus the OKC Thunder

On Wednesday night, Ja Morant led the Memphis Grizzlies to a 123-102 victory over the Oklahoma City Thunder with 26 points, 13 rebounds, and 11 assists. With his second triple-double of the year and seventh overall, Morant also tied a career-high with 13 rebounds.

The Grizzlies won their fourth straight game, a season-high, with the help of Dillon Brooks’ additional 24 points and Brandon Clarke’s final tally of 17 points and 8 rebounds. Memphis outscored the Thunder 66-50 in the second half, including 29-15 in the fourth quarter, to take the lead. Memphis, on the other hand, is currently 16-9 and is in third place in the West.

With 26 points, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander led the Thunder, but he only made 4 of 14 field goal attempts and 1 of 4 from beyond the arc. For Oklahoma City, which lost its three-game winning streak, Tre Mann scored 12 points and Eugene Omoruyi added 11. Gilgeous-run Alexander’s of seven consecutive games with at least 30 points was halted.

Oklahoma City is currently 11-14 on the season and dropped to 1-7 when scoring less than 110 points. SGA, the third-leading scorer in the NBA, was brilliantly contained by the Grizzlies when they didn’t foul, and that was one of the game’s few pivotal moments.
