With the Memphis Grizzlies and the Los Angeles Lakers taking on each other in the first round, the comeback for both teams is set. The Lakers are coming off a season without seeing the playoffs. The Grizzlies, on the other hand, enter the postseason after a Conference Semi-Final loss last year.

The team in purple and gold came through the Play-In tournament, and to many’s surprise, they took Game 1, beating the Grizzlies 128-112, following a final quarter surge.

The Lakers’ collective effort from the young talent as well as the bench really stood out. For Memphis, Game 1 didn’t go well at all. Apart from the loss, the Grizzlies had their star player, Ja Morant injured. Will Morant play in Game 2?

Morant took a hard fall during the fourth quarter of Game 1. He injured his hand which was already wrapped as he fell trying to score a bucket. After going through scans, Morant did not suffer any cracks or fractures in his hand. But this injury was more of a pain tolerance one. Morant’s game is dominated by his athleticism, having high vertical and explosive strength, the chances of getting injured while driving to the bucket increase most of the time.

Ja Morant’s Game 2 status remains doubtful as had been told by him, his pain measuring ten out of ten. Morant’s replacement would be Ty Jones, though the Grizzlies’ unstoppable scoring force might not be there. This does put Memphis in an advantageous situation as they’d take their time disclosing Morant’s Game 2 status. The next game will be crucial for the Grizzlies, though Ja would get sufficient rest and recovery time if he decides to sit Game 2. The Lakers will have the home-court advantage in Game 3, and they’ll definitely give their all to go up 2-0.

With players like Jaren Jackson Jr. and Desmond Bane having led in scoring in Game 1, they’ll have to take the complete load in the next game. It will be interesting to see whether Morant will take the risk or sit out and make a comeback in Game 3. Do you think Ja should play following his injury report? Let us know in the comments.
