Ja Morant does not seem to get a break this season. After coming back from a 25-game suspension, it now seems to be all for nothing. The Memphis Grizzlies superstar is going to be out for the remainder of this season.
Ja Morant did not suit up for the 121-115 road win against the Phoenix Suns. He was seen in a sling and reports came out that he had a shoulder dislocation. However, further MRI scans revealed that he had a tear in his labrum. This kind of injury will require surgery. The Athletic’s Shams Charania reported that Morant will undergo surgery to repair the tear, which effectively puts him out for the season.
Ja Morant has played just 9 games this season. This is due to the 25-game suspension he had to serve for brandishing firearms on social media. Since coming back, Morant put up 25.1 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 8.1 assists to help the Memphis Grizzlies go on a 6-3 run.
With Morant out for the year, the Grizzlies have a tough task on their hands. They are currently 13-23 and 13th place in the Western Conference standings. On Morant’s return, the Grizzlies aimed to return to the playoff places. Alas, that may no longer be a possibility.
Fans losing their mind on what is a horrible season for Ja Morant
Morant’s absence means that the Grizzlies have lost their lead superstar. Morant’s energy and play were crucial for the Grizzlies to turn their season around. The Memphis Grizzlies had looked a different team since the young prodigy’s return.
Naturally, basketball fans were feeling emotional when reports came out about the season-ending surgery. They were quick to react on social media. Check out some of their reactions below;
Basketball fans will have to wait for next season to see Ja Morant healthy and back at his best. Till then he should focus on his recovery and bide his time.
