NBA stars read Mean Tweets at Jimmy Kimmel Live
How many times have you seen Ja Morant, Russell Westbrook and Anthony Edwards on the same team ? Well Jimmy Kimmel live made it happen, as the NBA stars geared up to diss their haters on the world renowned talk show. In the latest edition of Jimmy Kimmel’s “Mean Tweets,” the late-night host has tapped a group of NBA players to read negative opinions about themselves on air. Everyone from Russell Westbrook to Anthony Edwards to Jalen Suggs participated in “Mean Tweets – NBA Edition 2022”
The NBA Finals bring along with them a lot of attention, tension and lots of hilarious moments. To keep the fans up to date with favorite Superstars, The Jimmy Kimmel Live show gathers the NBA family together for hysterical chit-chat while reading out mean tweets fired at them.
This year’s cast of characters is pretty stacked, featuring a lot of All-Stars, All-Stars, and season award winners. Anthony Edwards, Russell Westbrook, Franz Wagner, Jalen Suggs, Darius Garland, Jarrett Allen, Zach LaVine, Gary Payton, and Jalen Green, among many other NBA players, were on this video reading out mean tweets about themselves.

“Russell Westbrook dresses like my 70 year-old Uncle” – NBA stars roll on the floor while reading mean tweets at Jimmy Kimmel Live
It’s a tradition now, Jimmy Kimmel and his production crew produce a segment entitled “Mean Tweets” where they feature their celebrity guest reading very, well, mean tweets sent their way on Twitter. Basketball fans are very opinionated, and not all of those opinions are favorable. So once again, make lemons into yellow Gatorade with an all-new, all-NBA edition of ‘Mean Tweets’.
This year’s iteration was led off by Russell Westbrook, who had his wardrobe attacked. Ja Morant followed with a somewhat scathing tweet telling him to chill out, though it appeared as if he took it well. Edwards seems confused as he reads his misspelled tweet: “When we gonna start taking about Anthony Edwards problem? He don’t run. He don’t defend. He don’t rebound. He don’t shoot.” Edwards responds with a grin on his face, even pointing out a typo in that tweet, “I mean, we can start taking about it right now. Whatever that means.”
Many of the players took jokes against them in good humor. Andre Drummond and Jalen Green in particular started laughing out loud when they read what was said against them. Basketball Hall of Famer Gary Payton was the closer of the segment, and he didn’t take kindly to being told he looked like an older version of rapper Kanye West. These jokes are relatively tame, as anyone who has seen what goes on in NBA Twitter knows very well that Westbrook has been trolled for more than his dressing style this year.
We often stumble across such demeaning and scathing tweets making rounds on Twitter, what makes it even for fun is seeing the stars react to criticism live. It’s the NBA offseason pretty much for everyone except the Golden State Warriors and Boston Celtics, who are locked in battle for the crown of the NBA Champion. Game 5 at the Chase Centre was a memorable homecoming for the Warriors as they outfoxed the Celtics 104-94 to take the lead of the NBA Finals for the first time this year. As the drama continues, Mean tweets on Jimmy Kimmel Live give everyone a hearty laugh, after the intense competitiveness of an NBA season.
