“Former players should be paid more” Jalen Rose goes berserk in a latest rant on former athletes being underpaid on television

Jalen Rose
Jalen Rose has been a complete icon on the sets of ESPN shows. The former NBA turned television host and analyst has given some of the boldest predictions and has never turned away from being brutally honest with his takes on the way today’s basketball game is played. He has worked himself up to become one of sports television’s biggest names.

Speaking of his predictions, he has been absurdly accurate at times especially when the rest of the world was rooting for the Brooklyn Nets to get past the first round and through the finals. Jalen thought otherwise he said, “Its easy to get mesmerized by their offensive wizardry. When you see Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving, you see some of the best talents in today’s game. It’s so easy to dismiss their many flaws… the number one flaw is they’ve never been committed to defense.” Low and behold, the Nets got swept in the first round.
After three years of marriage, Jalen Rose and Molly Qerim call it quits

Jalen Rose and long-time television partner Molly Qerim tied the knot in 2018 before suddenly calling it the end in 2021 after three years. Of course, fans of the ESPN hosts started speculating that Molly was going behind his back and having an affair with his other partner Stephen A Smith. However, it may not actually be true.
He said, “I mutually part ways… and I still see people speculating – in particular saying it was because her and Stephen A Smith had a relationship. That’s not true!” He further explained why the two had split saying, “I got love for her, we were friends before we were married, we just didn’t work as a couple. I just saw her today. We cool! But for me to see speculation and for people to assume that was why, it bothered me.”
Jalen Rose speaks on why he joined television and underpaying former athletes in media

Jalen Rose has been working on camera for 20 years. The NBA star retired in 2007 after playing for teams like the Indiana Pacers, Phoenix Suns, and Chicago Bulls where he averaged his best numbers of 23.8 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 5.3 assists per game. “For me, as someone who’s pushing 50, I’ve been able to get in the door and now usher in opportunities for people behind me,” he said on why he joined sports media because he wished to elevate his people using his power.
Rose even brought out a serious topic of former athletes not being paid enough by sports media organizations. He said, “50 percent! Is that high enough? All former players should be getting double what they’re getting right now. When you’re watching a show, someone is gonna take it from a commercial, someone will tee up the question, but they’ll ask the person for the answer.” He feels like former athletes like himself have bigger resumes and know-how analytics work which helps give the most accurate content.
He also a moment to appreciate how social media and YouTube have paved the way for people to express their talent and communicate easily. Recently, former punter Pat McAfee hit a jackpot deal with FanDuel worth $120 million. Rose showed his appreciation towards the social media figure who also worked with him for three years on ESPN.
