“Thank you for each and every star poring love in our city” Jamal Crawford makes an emotional statement after Pro-Am cancellation
Jamal Crawford talks on Pro Am event
After retiring from active NBA action, Jamal Crawford organized a special game for fans. The game had two of the biggest stars in the NBA as LeBron James and Jayson Tatum also took part in the game. There was no surprise that they headlined the hot ticket event as crowds camped out a day early just to get good seats for the star-studded affair. But sadly it all ended in an unceremonious fashion as the match was played for only 2 quarters due to the poor condition of the court.
Players had been feeling the effects of the slippery court and LeBron James made an abrupt exit. Jamal Crawford addressed what happened on Twitter instead of getting down by how it all ended. He also stated that the event was a success even though they couldn’t complete the game.
Former NBA star JCraw made sure to personally thank the stars for making the time to make the event a huge success. The game was played in Crawford’s hometown of Seattle and many NBA players come together to put on a show.
LeBron was first to react to the event as he tweeted, “SEATTLE!! That was SPECIAL yesterday!! WHOA. Even with us having to stop play because of things we couldn’t control! I appreciate the love and hospitality towards me and my folks who came along for the show!”
Jamal Crawford also thanked LBJ and his gesture during the event. He tweeted, “Yesterday will be something we talk about forever! You understood what it meant for our community, and went above and beyond for Seattle. Forever indebted,”
Jamal Crawford thanked the players and also clarified the reasons for the court condition stopping the play.
Former sixth man of the year Jamal Crawford organized the Pro-Am game for his hometown crowd and many NBA players were invited for the same. The pro-am league featured James, Jayson Tatum, Dejounte Murray, Paolo Banchero, Chet Holmgren, Isaiah Thomas, Aaron Gordon, Tari Eason, and Marjon Beauchamp.
The game began Saturday evening but ended before halftime due to on-court condensation. LeBron James and other players didn’t disappoint despite the shortened game time, throwing in several highlights to the delight of Seattle hoops fans.
Previously the Seattle Pro-Am Basketball League, The CrawsOver is a high-level summer pro-am league that features a mix of current and former professionals. It also allows many international, minor league, and collegiate players to play with stars of the game. The league was founded by Jamal Crawford. The game was also streamed on the NBA app, and NBA.com.
But it was unfortunate to have to cancel the game due to uncontrolled conditions. In a tweet on Sunday evening, Jamal Crawford said he believes the humidity in the gym was caused after someone pulled a fire alarm and organizers were instructed to keep the doors to the gym closed, which they hadn’t done for previous Pro-Am league events at the venue.
The Royal Brougham Pavilion at Seattle Pacific University, where the event was held, holds only 2,600 people. The abrupt cancellation caused a bit of havoc within the crowd. Seattle police were at the event to help with crowd control and to make sure traffic was moving smoothly after the game. Seattle police informed that there were no acts of violence and no one was arrested.
But the packed crowd was thoroughly entertained by a glimpse of their favorite players taking the court for them. Hopefully the next time another event of this magnitude comes to life, Jamal Crawford and co. will be primed and ready.
