Jamal Crawford urges Lakers to TRADE for younger players keeping LeBron James “fresh” for the playoffs
LeBron James and Jamal Crawford
Former NBA star Jamal Crawford, known for his street-style basketball skills spoke about the struggle that LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers are going through this season. As many basketball analysts have already pointed out that the problem with the Lakers isn’t just the talent but also the fit. So far into the season, the Lakers have only won 3 games this season of their 13 matchups.
When asked about how he would fix the Lakers, Crawford responded, “It’s the fit.” Explaining his point, he further added, “Russ is a great player he just doesn’t fit with this team so it’s making him look really bad, so you have to have shooters around LeBron James,” something that several other former players like Richard Jefferson have already alluded to. Westbrook is an excellent player but he plays like an alpha with his team, sharing and bringing the ball. With LeBron James on the floor, Westbrook can not be the decision-maker that takes his game away from him.
Crawford gave another piece of advice for the Lakers. He added, “I would also get a younger star so if I have to trade AD to get younger pieces… that LeBron can trust.” It is not unknown, how LeBron James conditions himself for the playoffs. Jamal reminded, “You want LeBron to be fresh for the playoffs so you have to get pieces that can carry the load for him consistently.”
Crawford also added that if it was the GM, he would trade Davis for younger pieces. Jamal said, “we know his talent is out of this world but how many games he is going to play let’s a Brandon Ingram, Herb Jones and McCollum are on the board I would make the trade.”
Kevin Durant says LeBron James is top 2-3 players ever to play the game as fans missed yet another LeBron-KD rivalry
The result of the match between the Brooklyn Nets and the Los Angeles Lakers surprised many as the Lakers without LeBron beat the Brooklyn Nets securing their 3rd win of the season. LeBron and the Lakers have been having perhaps the worst season of the franchise. In the Lakers’ win, Anthony Davis scored season-high 37 points to lead his team to the victory.
Two of the best players in the league in the last decade, Lebron James and Kevin Durant haven’t faced each other since Christmas 2018. The LeBron-KD rivalry was hyped during 2017 and 2018 which fans used to love so much. Since then KD left Golden State Warriors for Brooklyn Nets and LeBron left Cleveland Cavaliers for Los Angeles Lakers. LeBron won his 4th ring and 4th finals MVP with the Lakers in his second season with the team.
Speaking of LeBron, KD said, “top-two player to ever play, top-three player to ever play. It’s always going to be excitement when he steps on the floor.” KD also talked about his matchup against LeBron, Durant said, “We’ve been around for so long that people have seen so many battles between us too at a high stage that people look forward to it.” KD candidly also added, “It’s cool that we’re still relevant at an old age.”
LeBron and KD have always shown respect to each other, and it is definitely a disappointment to miss yet another chance to see two greats face each other. LeBron is 37 years old and not much is left in his tank at this point of his age and career, yet so far James has shown great resilience and defiance against his age and brought a new narrative to the ‘father time.’
