“Playing real basketball again” James Harden breaks Bennedict Mathurin’s ankles and knocks 3-pointer right on his face, making NBA Fans go berserk
James Harden dropping Benedict Mathurin
The Sixers’ first victory of the year is driven by James Harden, who has a stat studded box score and many spectacular moments. After knocking Indiana Pacers youngster Bennedict Mathurin to the ground with an ankle breaker and the 3-pointer after that, Harden sparked a social media frenzy among his followers.
Teams must stop and slow down James Harden, which is difficult to do when playing the Philadelphia 76ers, but again the Indiana Pacers failed to do either on Monday night. Harden has developed a reputation for coming up with highlight-reel plays and regularly humiliates defenders with his accurate outside shooting and dexterous handling. The troublesome Indiana Pacers wouldn’t go away up until Harden had to knock down Bennedict Mathurin to the ground which damaged their spirits resulting in the 76ers win.
After his team’s advantage had shrunk to single digits in the fourth quarter, James Harden executed a beautiful step-back move to create and bury a wide-open three-pointer. Harden attempted to do the same against the Boston Celtics in the season opener, but he was unsuccessful. Harden gave Pacers rookie Bennedict Mathurin a moment that he’ll remember for the rest of his life by dropping him and making a 3-pointer in his face during their matchup.

Joel Embiid scored 26 points, James Harden had 29 points and 11 assists, as the Philadelphia 76ers defeated the Indiana Pacers 120-106 on Monday night to earn their first victory of the year. Harden converted 10 of his 18 field goal attempts, and in the fourth, he made two straight 3-pointers to increase the margin to 109-95. He finished the game with a near triple-double on an effective 10 of 18 from the field, narrowly missing out on the 70th triple-double of his career.
Tyrese Haliburton scored 19 points, 10 assists, and 6 rebounds to lead the Pacers, who were missing star centre Myles Turner due to an ankle strain and Buddy Hield added 18 points. Despite having a 30 point fourth quarter against the 76ers, they only made 12 of their 44 3-point tries, and they were unable to stop Harden. The Sixers’ advantage was eventually cut to seven points by the Pacers in the fourth quarter, but Harden and Embiid came up big in the final minutes, scoring a combined 17 points.
NBA fans go crazy for James Harden’s unbelievable move on Pacers rookie
James Harden’s step-back dribble into a jumper on the wing, which causes defenders to tumble to the floor, is one of his highlight-reel moments, and he definitely did that to Pacers youngster Benedict Mathurin. It takes courage to pick up Harden as a defensive assignment, but Mathurin was able to stay in front of Harden and the 76ers guard handed the rookie player the responsibility on this play.

Harden’s expectations for the season
Given the quality on the roster, the Sixers are a top contender in the east. Harden’s inconsistencies, though, are something to be worried about since he has to step up for at least a few of the season’s games, especially if he wants to win a title. Harden’s offseason preparation is finally paying off, as he seemed to be in better shape than ever and displayed why he should be considered for the MVP against the Indiana Pacers.
He is now averaging 26.8 points, 8.5 rebounds, and 9.8 assists per game in four games while shooting 48.6 percent from the field and 37.5 percent from outside the arc. After his dismal performance in the playoffs, Harden promised to make a comeback season, and so far he’s keeping his word. The Sixers now need to convert those performances into bigger triumphs and continue to fight for a title.
