“Won’t Stay Long” James Harden gets thrown under the bus by Amar’e Stoudamire for lack of commitment

For two consecutive seasons now, NBA fans have witnessed James Harden moving from one super team to another. From an ugly spat with Houston Rocket, to moving away of Brooklyn Nets because of Irving’s stern vaccine stance, the Beard has finally landed in Philly to at least end his 2021-22 season campaign alongside Joel Embiid. However, for Amar’e Stoudamire for sheer lack of commitment.

Brooklyn Nets received Seth Curry, Andre Drummond, Ben Simmons and multiple draft picks only to send James Harden to Philadelphia. But has the Beard been able to live up to his type ever since he arrived? Amar’e Stoudamire surely feels NO! Moreover, he went onto condemn Harden for miserably failing.

Has James Harden been a complete flop in Philly?

According to Brooklyn Nets player development assistant Amar’e Stoudamire, a minimal deal with Harden is probably in the Philadelphia franchise’s best interest.

“If I’m the owner of the Sixers, I cannot commit to giving him a max deal,” Stoudamire said, quotes courtesy of Ahn Fire Digital. “I just don’t see the dedication that I would need to see from my top 75 player. You have to be able to have a certain level of determination and focus on being the best player you can possibly be and also be there for your teammates when they need you the most…If he’s not capable of doing that as a max player, I’m not going to be willing to now give you a max contract if you’re not showing me that you can handle the situation.”

This opinion for Stoudamire is no mere assumption, but he has already had the first-hand experience of working with the former MVP. He worked with Harden in Brooklyn during the guard’s entire career with the Nets. He’s seen Harden’s work ethic, his on-court performances, and what he prioritizes first-hand.

If Philly are not able to stretch their semi-final series against Miami Heat to Game 7, indeed it would feel like the James Harden has been a complete waste.
