While majority thought Golden State Warriors would go onto book their slot in the NBA Finals by beating Ja Morant less Memphis Grizzlies in Game 5, the reality was in-turn opposite. The brutal showdown went to an extent where the second-seed team led by as many as 52 points, only to ensure Stephen A. Smith call it an absolute ‘atrocity’.

The Grizzlies were led by Desmond Bane, T. Jones and Jaren Jackson Jr, all of whom went onto score 21 points. On the other hand, Stephen Curry, Jordan Poole, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green could not make an impact as they were even dissed by the home dancers on Whoop That Trick.

He stated, “That was one of the greatest a** whippings I’ve ever seen. I mean, excuse my language, the Warriors got their a** kicked, it was pretty bad. You down as much as 55 and the star that’s gone from the team is not yours, it’s not like Steph Curry wasn’t playing.

“Ja Morant wasn’t playing. Now we’ve seen the Memphis Grizzlies enjoy success without the services of Ja Morant this year and we’ve marveled at it but nevertheless nobody in their right mind would believe that you were going to see what you saw last night.”

He added, “It doesn’t matter what happens in Game 6 if the Golden State Warriors win, it don’t erase what we saw last night. That was an atrocity. That was one of the worst performances I’ve ever seen.”

Game 5 was surely a celebration for the Memphis Grizzlies, but they would want to keep their feet on the ground as they cannot afford a loss in this semi-final series. Will Curry emerge once again to take charge for the Dubs? Or will the Morant less Baby Grizz stretch the series to Game 7 with an unexpected road win? Remains to be seen.
