It was the big night for music with Grammy awards and some of the best artists getting recognition for their work. One of them who has been in the music industry for a long time with a significant impact is none other than Jay-Z. As one of the most prestigious people in the music industry, there is no denying his words hold a lot of weight. The same has happened this time but a bit of controversy has stirred overnight.
During his speech at the Grammys on Sunday, Jay-Z happened to criticize the awards calling out how Black artists aren’t favored in the industry. Giving an example of his wife, Beyoncé, who herself hasn’t won a Grammy for album of the year.
Jay Z said,
We want you to get it right — at least get it close to right. Some of you may get robbed. It’s music and it’s opinion-based.
And out of anyone, it was Kevin Garnett who took to Instagram and appreciated his words.
KG on his Instagram story which has caught a lot of attention from both basketball and music fans, wrote
Shout to Jay-z for being celebrated.. that black Grammy fire… Salute King…
Nevertheless, Jay-Z had his point straight and used the platform to raise awareness about racial justice and policy. Which KG fully had his back.
Beyoncé and Jay-Z: Basketball Enthusiasts
Beyoncé and Jay-Z or as they like to be called The Carters, have had a monumental impact in the music world without a doubt. From hit after hit to taking over the industry by storm, the couple’s love for music was always visible. But there is another industry that they both love and are huge admirers of – the NBA.
The sport over the years has seen some of the most known celebrities sitting courtside, showcasing their love for the game. The Carters are not quite strangers who both love to watch a game of basketball. One of the famous presences was during Game One of the Eastern Conference second-round series between the Brooklyn Nets and the Milwaukee Bucks at Barclays Center in New York City. The pair was all glammed up for the big occasion.
There is no denying that their immense influence whether music or life achievements has reached beyond the music realm. And if there is one other thing that brings them closer to a wider audience, is their love for basketball.
