Jaylen Brown was one of the few superstars to have committed to compete in the NBA All-Star Slam Dunk competition. The Boston Celtics superstar was sure to give the Dunk contest a star-level boost. Something that had been lacking star presence over the past few years. One of Brown’s Dunk’s drew boos from the crowd.

Jaylen Brown brought out streamer Kai Cenat and teammate Jayson Tatum for assistance in his dunk. Tatum was standing with the ball in his hands to toss it upwards to a leaping Brown. Streaming star Cenat was sitting down below the ball while streaming the dunk from his phone. Brown sprinted down the lane and dunked over the seated 5′ 3″ Cenat. After landing on his feet, Brown used his left arm to cover his eyes. This brought out a loud chain of boos from the crowd.

Brown’s move to cover his eyes was an ode to Dee Brown‘s dunk in 1991. But fans booed Jaylen Brown as he covered his eyes after the dunk, whereas Dee Brown covered his eyes while in the air, slamming the ball down on the basket.

Jaylen Brown could have used something more challenging than the much shorter Cenat. After all, he was tipped to be the winner by many fans. But this dunk did not sit well with fans. Their boos filled the arena and became louder when he was awarded enough points to advance to the finals.

Basketball fans are right to boo Jaylen Brown after dunking over Kai Cenat

For basketball fans, the entry of an All-Star caliber player in this year’s Slam Dunk contest was a sweet victory. Time and again the Slam Dunk contest has featured rookies and role players in the past few years. So when Jaylen Brown was on the list of competitors for the contest, fans were waiting to watch him take the title. But he disappointed fans across the world with his poor dunks.

This dunk over Kai Cenat did not sit well with fans watching from home. So they were quick to add to their fellow fans in the arena with trolls on social media. Check out some of their reactions below;

Jaylen Brown might be content with his performance, but the fans did not appreciate it one bit. Next year onwards, the league should do tryouts before deciding on the participants. After all, the idea is to give the fans a solid piece of entertainment.
