After tonight’s win, Tatum took the opportunity to acknowledge his teammates. ESPN’s reporter Lisa Salters asked Tatum during the post-game interview about what changed down the stretch in the game.

I finally stopped turning the ball over. I'm thankful I got some great teammates. I stunk it up tonight.
Tatum answered

Despite the 29-point performance, Tatum was 11 of 28 from the field and had four turnovers.

Tatum was only the leader in points, as his teammates made huge contributions to the win. Not long after Tatum, Brown scored 27 points, Al Horford had 12 rebounds, and Derrick White and Jrue Holiday combined for 15 assists, scoring 10 and 15 points, respectively.

The bench also added a total of 27 points to the win. In Devin Booker‘s absence, Kevin Durant scored a thrilling 45-point double-double. The performance was not enough to win the game.

Jayson Tatum’s MVP ranking has caused controversy among fans

Jayson Tatum is currently in the top five of the MVP ladder. The player is under a microscope, as fans now have high expectations for his performance. With the Celtics being the first seed in the East and the best team in all of the NBA currently, many believe that the team’s status should be added to Tatum’s MVP resume.

But others disagree, as despite Tatum’s amazing individual performance, fans are not impressed by his contribution to the team

As mentioned previously, Tatum had an underwhelming performance against the Nuggets. Also during the game against the Cleveland Cavaliers, despite a good performance, Tatum missed the game-winning shot, which resulted in the last-second win for the Cavs.

According to fans, Tatum’s performance is not the reason for the Celtics’ current status in the league. But the athlete’s performance in Saturday’s win and his showing appreciation to his teammates show that the player is aware of his place and contribution to the team’s performance. Tatum is averaging 26.9 points, 8.4 rebounds, and 4.9 assists with 47.4 FG% this season.
