The Miami Heat are down 0-1 in the NBA Finals for the first time this postseason, but they don’t seem to care. Jimmy Butler, the face of the franchise and the main reason they are here, said after Thursday’s loss to the Denver Nuggets that the team was still in good spirits and confident in their abilities.
“You’ve got to get to four,” Butler said. “So down 0-1, we know we are going to get to four. We are in there laughing, in there smiling, knowing that we could play better. We will play better.”
Butler’s comments did not sit well with NBA Twitter, which unleashed a barrage of criticism and mockery at the Heat for being too nonchalant and cocky in the face of a formidable opponent.
Many fans accused the Heat of being “shameless” for acting like they had nothing to worry about, while others doubted their competitiveness and desire for a ring. Some even reminded them of their lowly status as the eighth seed in the East and their near-elimination in the play-in tournament.

NBA Twitter ripped Jimmy Butler and the Heat
Here are some of the tweets that ripped Butler and the Heat:
Game 1 was a tough loss for the Heat, but they have more issues to deal with than just bouncing back on Sunday. They could be without guard Caleb Martin, who sat out practice on Saturday due to an illness. His status for Game 2 is uncertain.
Meanwhile, Tyler Herro remains a question mark as he recovers from a broken right hand that he sustained in the first round against the Bucks. The Heat’s young star has been increasing his activity level lately, but he still needs to pass some tests before he can rejoin his team on the court.
The Heat have a lot of work to do if they want to win their first title since 2013. But they don’t seem to be bothered by the challenge, even if NBA Twitter thinks otherwise.
