“Kissing a**” – JJ Redick calls 25-game suspension for Ja Morant ‘too severe’, NBA Twitter SLAMS his leniency
Twitter trolls JJ Redick for going easy on Ja Morant despite recent controversial actions.
Ja Morant and JJ Redick
JJ Redick is back in the NBA headlines. And, the reason isn’t him getting a head coach job. Instead, it’s a take of his regarding Ja Morant’s recent controversy, where he has shown mercy to the Grizzlies Guard. Ja Morant was once again caught flexing a gun during an Instagram live. And, since then, has been banned from all team activities by the Memphis Grizzlies. As the league is investigating further. JJ Redick, though, disagrees with Stephen A. Smith’s punishment for Ja, as he believes it’s too heavy.
Stephen A. Smith believes Ja Morant should be suspended for at least 25 games for flexing a gun on IG Live again. But JJ Redick isn’t riding with it and believes it to be too severe. On the recent episode of First Take, sitting alongside Molly Qerim and Stephen A. Smith, he gave his take on the number of games Ja Morant should be suspended for as a second-time offender. After pointing out Stephen A. Smith’s take, the former NBA player disappointed the many fans out there with his own.
As JJ Redick went on to quote, “So a couple things, number 1: don’t condone Ja’s behavior and Ja Morant isn’t an idiot but it’s idiotic behavior. I think how sensitive everyone is right now to guns in general… Has Ja Morant broken a law? As Colorado police investigated no law was broken. As far as we know so far no law has been broken here. When we talk about a 25-game suspension, historically speaking that’s steroids you know you are cheating the game of the basketball. That’s going up in the stands and fighting fans. Gilbert got the whole season or 50 games whatever it was for bringing a gun into locker-room, now that is a violation of league’s rules.”
JJ Redick didn’t stop there and went on to say: “As far as I know no law is broken… There should be a suspension given that he already served 8 games… I would start sort of looking at 16 games suspension, doubling up… I do think a 25-game suspension for this is too severe… And, I would generally start at probably doubling up with the suspension that has already been which was 8 games.”
Twitter reacts to JJ Redick’s take for Ja Morant’s suspension
Even though JJ Redick mentioned how he’s not a fan of Ja’s behavior and isn’t riding with him. The internet is still showing no mercy to him, a bit opposite of what he’s doing in Ja’s case. The internet is clowning and schooling JJ Redick about the seriousness behind the actions of Ja and the impact it has on the league and everyone around. You can find some of the many reactions posted by fans on Twitter here below:
Ja Morant is surely going to pay a big price for his latest actions. As in the past season, he has already been under fire for his trips to the strip clubs, exchanges with police officers and players, beating up a teenager while having a gun on his waistband, and flexing a gun in an IG Live just two months ago.
He sent out an apology and even took a break, but none of that matters now that he’s back at it. So JJ Redick showing him mercy is just useless, as even the fans are rooting for Ja to be treated the same as Gilbert Arenas.
