“He wants out” Joel Embiid gives up on 76ers even after Spurs dominate with 17-4 run in latest showdown

Joel Embiid

Joel Embiid had a tough beginning to his career initially battling injuries that kept him away from the court for a while. Now healthy, he has been arguably the best player in the league as well as in the best shape of his professional life. The former MVP candidate so happens to be on a very good team as well.

Things may not be too bad for him, so you would think. But in reality, the Philadelphia 76ers have been extremely stagnant in their progress settling among the top five rankings and falling apart during the playoffs. Last season was unfortunate after the Cameroonian baller suffered a fractured orbital.

After the 76ers lost their third straight game of the season, it’s like the team has only degraded since the playoffs. Joel Embiid on one hand seems to have given up all hope. During the final quarter of the game with 3:44 left on the clock, San Antonio Spurs’ Jakob Poelt was able to overpower Embiid in the paint while grabbing an offensive rebound leaving the Sixers in complete disbelief.

What was worse is that the Spurs were on a 17-4 run at the point of the game and it was an easy victory from that point onward. Last season, the Spurs had one of the worst records in the league, but last night made the Sixers look as if they are also headed in that direction this year. Here is what the fans had to say about their terrible performance.

Joel Embiid was a top-two MVP candidate last season averaging 30.6 points, 13.3 rebounds, and 3.7 assists per game. Obviously, the injury crippled the Sixers in the playoffs but their defenses have been extremely poor since the start of this season. The center had 40 points, 13 rebounds, and 3 assists against the Spurs but it was not enough to help them get a victory.

Besides him, James Harden was not entirely in good form during the post-season run averaging 18.6 points, 8.6 assists, and 5.7 rebounds. It was upsetting that the beard struggled to be in form during the most important games of the season. However, he had two 30 points performances during the start of the season. Last night, he recorded a double-double of 12 points and 12 assists with 9 rebounds. Despite the stat line achievement, 12 points is unacceptable from a former MVP.
