Going ahead in the second round, the Philadelphia 76ers finally have Joel Embiid back on their lineup. After missing two consecutive games following Game 3 of the first round, Embiid was back in action for Game 2 versus the Boston Celtics. The Sixers had taken a 1-0 lead without Embiid on the floor, as James Harden led the squad. Though Game 2 had a different turn of events.
The Celtics had taken control of the games since the very start, as they beat the Sixers 121-87. Jaylen Brown led the team with 25 points, whereas Malcolm Brogdon had 23. Tatum couldn’t step it up, as he just scored seven points and grabbed seven rebounds. For the Sixers, Embiid was on the floor for 26 minutes, scoring 15 points and taking three boards in that time.
No player on the Philadelphia 76ers had more than 16 points, as even after Joel Embiid‘s return, he seems to take his own time to settle. James Harden, who scored a whopping 45 points in Game 1, just had 12 of them today with ten rebounds. The Sixers seemed to be in need of desperate help, and so was the situation at the end of the first quarter. Embiid flopped as Grant Williams had slightly pushed him during an inbound play.
It was certainly a dirty flop by Joel, which left the fans disappointed. The new MVP hadn’t been on the floor for a long while, playing 26 minutes. Though this play of his at the end of the first quarter took his MVP status from him as fans on Twitter bashed Joel for his unnecessary flop. Not only that, but Joel did get a call, as the referee assessed Grant Williams with a foul.

Joel Embiid disappoints fans following his new MVP status
After the Sixers’ loss, fans took to Twitter, as no one appreciated this action of Embiid. Williams had indeed pushed Joel, though his flop seemed like an excessive reaction. Embiid is coming off a knee injury and was reported to have a small tear in the same area. His injury did play a role, the MVP was not playing in his best form in Game 2. Some fans were quick to point that out, while others roasted him for his flop.
The series is now tied at one apiece, with the Sixers now hosting the next two games at home. Philly has never made it past the second round of the playoffs since Embiid’s arrival. Now having the home-court advantage, Philly will look to take a strong lead against the Celtics as Game 3 is scheduled for Friday.
