Julius Randle

The NBA All-Star game is almost upon us and some exciting matchups are on the way. The New York Knicks have Julius Randle as their all-star this year after missing out last season. Randle is taking part in his second all-star game and will be looking forward to putting on a show in Utah. When asked about who he would like to play with, Randle said “LeBron, PG (Paul George), start with those two guys.” Randle justified his picks by saying he has a good relationship with PG and he has never played with LeBron before. “It would be fun to do before he gets his old a** outta here”, said Randle with a grin on his face.

LeBron James on the other hand will be taking part in his 19th All-Star game, tied for the most all-time with Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. To put that into context, The New York Knicks have had 1 or more players representing them in an All-Star game just 12 times since Lebron’s debut. Six of them were Lebron’s good friend and former teammate Carmelo Anthony.

Julius Randle is excited to play with LeBron, but the way The King is playing certainly does not seem like his ‘old a**’ is going anywhere. However, LeBron has been in and out of the Lakers squad this season with minor injuries. It will be interesting to see whether he will go all out during the All-star game or save himself from injury. The Lakers have a long season ahead of them and LeBron’s fitness is critical to their performances.

Julius Randle and Jalen Brunson are the second-best J-J duo in the East

In the first place, it is quite obvious Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown but Randle and Brunson are doing quite well. The Knicks are currently the 6 seed in the West and a strong finish to the season should guarantee them a playoff spot. Randle is averaging 24.8 points and 10.8 rebounds this season for his second all-star appearance. Brunson is averaging career highs in points and 3PT % at 24PPG and 41% from 3.

The addition of Brunson to this team has been vital to New York’s success. Last season they missed the playoffs by quite some distance and with the addition of Brunson they have elevated their game. Brunson is a skilled playmaker and can create his shots as well. His basketball IQ is also quite high which is just one benefit of being a former teammate of Luka Doncic.

The Knicks will look forward to making a push for a top 4 seed as they did in 2021. However, with the East being this stacked their odds are pretty slim. They are still 4.5 games behind the 4-seed Cavs despite winning 8 of their last 12 games. The Garden has desperately missed playoff basketball and it was visible during their playoff series in 2021 against the Hawks. Julius Randle and Brunson have a lot of work on their hands if they want to hear Madison Square Garden roaring in April.
