“I thought they acquired Rudy Gay” Karl Anthony Towns hilariously admits how badly he contemplated Rudy Gobert’s trade news

Minnesota Timberwolves won their Play-in game against the LA Clippers but crashed out of the postseason in the 1st round. Karl Anthony Towns who led the former team played well but the playoff showcase that he still needs the right pieces around him. On the sam note, Timberwolves were too looking to add some solidity around the rim, helping the team defensively and allow some offensive freedom to KAT. Well, they found the solution in Rudy Gobert and even paid a heavy price for his services. When you’ve been in a bad situation for so long, it can be hard to believe when something goes your way. It was a similar feeling for Karl Anthony Town when he heard the news.
As he explained to ESPN’s Malika Andrews, he thought that his team had traded for another Rudy before he eventually realized who it was that became his newest teammate. He said, “I was in London, I was working out and my phone was off. So when I walked back upstairs to the hotel room, my girl was like ‘did you hear the news?’ And I was like ‘nah, what are you talking about?’ And she said ‘Rudy, you guys got Rudy.’ I didn’t know what she was talking about, I was completely confused. I was like ‘oh, we signed Rudy Gay!’”
Karl explained the confusion, as he said, “I didn’t know what was going on. and then she was like ‘no, no Rudy Gobert!’ I was excited. I didn’t know what was happening but I just saw the vision of us both twin towers out there. What he can do defensively, what I can offensively and we all putting that together for one organization. I think it’s gonna be very different, the NBA hasn’t seen something like this, this is unique. It’s gonna be scary.”

The Timberwolves haven’t had much success as a team in recent years. They had a young star trio of Towns, Russell, and Edwards; but looked to be steps away from other Western Conference elites. But New GM Tim Connelly looks on a mission as he made shrewd moves adding a player of Gobert’s quality to the roaster.
Are Minnesota Timberwolves well equipped with Karl Anthony Towns, Rudy Gobert, and Anthony Edwards for upcoming seasons?

The NBA world was caught by surprise when the Minnesota Timberwolves traded for star center Rudy Gobert. Minnesota offered a massive trade package. This included Walker Kessler, Malik Beasley, Patrick Beverley, Jarred Vanderbilt, and multiple first-round picks. But finally, they get what they desired the most.
With Towns coming in at 6-11, and Gobert being 7-1, they will be one of the biggest frontcourts in league history. Gobert led the league in rebounds and blocks multiple times in the past and having former rookie of the year KAT alongside will allow strong rim protection for the Wolves. They can shut opponents defensively in a better way now.
Offensively also, though Rudy is not much of an offensive juggernaut, his presence in the paint area would allow some more spacing for Edward, Towns, and Russell. Only time would tell how well the French star suits up for the Wolves, but it is a very powerful team on paper for sure, which can go deep in the postseason.
