Former MVP Karl Malone will be in the spotlight as the All-Star Weekend returns to Salt Lake City after 30 long years. Malone is a household name in Salt Lake City thanks to his services for the Utah Jazz. The 2x MVP was in conversation with Legends of Basketball magazine and had a plethora of topics to discuss. Currently, he is importing his cigar- Barrel Aged by Karl Malone from the Dominican Republic, distributing across the U.S.

Karl Malone is not a keen follower of the association but keeps himself updated with important happenings. Interestingly, he did not hold himself back from calling out the Indiana Pacers. The Mailman was unimpressed with the Pacers’ decision to trade Domantas Sabonis, who was blossoming into their franchise player. He said, “Why would you ever trade a player like that?”. Sabonis was a two-time all-star with the Pacers and led them to the 4th seed in the 2019-20 season. In February 2022, the Pacers traded Sabonis to the Sacramento Kings in exchange for promising guard Tyrese Haliburton as part of a six-player trade that also included Buddy Hield.

After a good start to the season, the Pacers have crumbled down to the 12th seed, and the road ahead is challenging. Malone had only the Pacers organization to blame for their situation right now. On the other hand, the Sacramento Kings are surging ahead in the mighty Western Conference.

The Kings fans have something to smile about as a potential playoff birth awaits them after 15 years. Domantas Sabonis and De’Aaron Fox have been the architects of their tremendous record so far. The big man is averaging 18.8 points and a league-high 12.3 rebounds. Sabonis also leads the league in double-doubles with 45. The aforementioned numbers earned him his third all-star spot.

The Sacramento Kings have been a subject of mockery and memes for a while now, thanks to their 15-year playoff drought. But things seem to have changed this season. The “light the beam” term became famous among supporters after their arena lit a purple beam into the sky. The Kings, who currently sit fourth in the Western Conference, would like to pick up where they left off after the All-Star break and secure a berth in the NBA playoffs.
