Chamberlain, who played center in the NBA for 14 seasons, is widely regarded as one of the sport’s greatest players. On the other hand, Bill Russell, the iconic center for the Boston Celtics from 1956 to 1969, stood as the centerpiece of the Celtics’ dynasty, clinching 11 NBA championships during his illustrious 13-year career.

Clippers president of basketball operations Lawrence Frank had this to say:

It just made sense from both sides. We both wanted the same thing. We wanted Kawhi to be a Clipper for a very long time and Kawhi wants to be a Clipper for a very long time and we wanted to put the focus on the team and at the same time it just came together where it just made sense where it was a very fair deal for both sides.
