“Golden State has reached the finals, replaced him with Andrew Wiggins, and hasn’t lost a beat” Kendrick Perkins believes Kevin Durant needs to deliver for Brooklyn Nets anyhow if Warriors win NBA title
Kevin Durant and Kendrick Perkins
Kevin Durant may have had the most upsetting seasons among all the players in the NBA. The Brooklyn Nets was formed with the intention of making an immediate championship run but their dreams were shattered by teams simply much stronger than them chemistry wise. Sadly, they are out of the playoff race after getting swept in the first round.
During the first part of the season and before the injuries, the Nets seemed like a top contender out of the Eastern division securing the top spot for brief while before bouncing around the top five. The absence of Kyrie Irving did not seem like a problem for them as James Harden and KD had control over the consistency of winning games. Despite Irving absence not affecting the team, he gave the beard second thoughts on continuing with a roster he felt was too laid back.
Why did Kevin Durant leave the Golden State Warriors?
Many people believe that Kevin Durant may have quit on the Warriors after witnessing hell break loose on their physical health versus the Toronto Raptors in 2019. Eventually he spoke about his departure saying, “I felt like it was time for a change. I wanted to play for a new team.” He also said he did not worry about what he was leaving or even the winning situation he was in at that point.
He would later become candid about the event on Draymond Green’s podcast. He said that there were a number of issues that took place with the franchise and the team. He also explained that even though there were problems between the players the franchise or front office did not handle it well which is why he felt he needed to leave for a much more welcoming situation.
Kendrick Perkins says Kevin Durant has a lot to prove next season
Kendrick Perkins spoke about what Kevin Durant needs to prove after the recent success of the Warriors without him. “Kevin Durant is going to be under the most pressure next year especially if the Golden State Warriors go on to win the title. It was his decision to leave Golden State. They have reached the finals, replaced it with Andrew Wiggins and hasn’t lost a beat with healthy.”
“Now KD, the performance the whole season against the Boston Celtics was horrible. He is going to have to most pressure. All eyes are going to be one him and what he does with this Brooklyn Nets organization and how far he can go.” It seems like the pressure may still be on the shoulders of the former two-time MVP.
