Nikola Jokic has undoubtedly asserted his dominance on the basketball court. The Denver Nuggets Center has been the driving force of his team’s campaign this season as they knock on the door of their first-ever NBA championship. Jokic showed up at Game 2 of the NBA Finals with no intentions to take the foot off the gas pedal. While the Nuggets struggled quite a bit with their scoring, Jokic put up 41 points with 11 rebounds and 4 assists.
Although he has been exceptional, the Nuggets Center seems to not get enough attention from mainstream media. Something a lot of fans and a few media persons are actively pointing out recently. Former NBA player turned analyst Kendrick Perkins spoke about the same. He was on the Pat McAfee Show when he expressed his views about whether Jokic should be talked about more in the media.
“Absolutely he should be,” Kendrick Perkins said, starting off. “He is the best player in the league. He is the most skilled Center to ever touch the damn basketball. Every time he shoots I think its going in, I don’t care the level of difficulty, (he is shooting) forty seven percent from the three point line. We are to blame and that’s us as the media, us at the network ESPN because we should do a better job at promoting and marketing him.”
“We shouldn’t have to be waiting for the NBA Finals to be able to appreciate Jokic,” he said, adding to his response. “Less talk about the Lakers and LeBron James and Jayson Tatum, and more talk about Jokic.”

How has Nikola Jokic performed in the 2023 Playoffs for Nuggets?
The Denver Nuggets have been a really difficult team to play against. On their way to the NBA Finals, the Nuggets thwarted some pretty well-stacked teams like the Phoenix Suns and the Los Angeles Lakers. Although the wins were collective team efforts, the leadership from Nikola Jokic has to undoubtedly be credited.
Jokic has been putting up phenomenal numbers with a thirst for creating history as he keeps showing up every night. His playoff performances have been compared to the great Wilt Chamberlain. He is averaging 30.4 points with 12.9 rebounds and 10.1 assists in the 2023 playoffs. Moreover, his brilliant game awareness and basketball IQ have been unparalleled.
Although the Denver Nuggets lost Game 2, they are very much in control of the series. Tied at 1-1, they will now head to Miami to play the Miami Heat at home. With an unfortunate slip-up in Game 2, Denver would look to make quick adjustments to keep the Heat from taking the momentum. It will be interesting to see how they come out and reformulate themselves in Game 3.
