“I’ll trade Kyrie wherever the hell I want to trade him” Kendrick Perkins loses his cool while calling out Kyrie Irving amid latest trade fiasco

“I’ll trade Kyrie wherever the hell I want to trade him” Kendrick Perkins loses his cool while calling out Kyrie Irving amid latest trade fiasco

Kendrick Perkins and Kyrie Irving

Kyrie Irving and Brooklyn Nets are in a unique situation right now. The marquee scorer entered the Nets doors with lots of promises and hopes for brighter futures, but after failed 3 seasons, both the parties are eager to part ways. Superstar Kyrie Irving has his heart set on a move away from the Nets, but failing to find a perfect team in recent weeks, the guard has exercised his player option. But he is keen to take his talents elsewhere from the media capital of the world, as he had expressed earlier too. Kendrick Perkins is frustrated with Kyrie’s attitude toward his former Cavs Teammate.

On ESPN’s basketball show NBA Today, former NBA player Kendrick Perkins spoke about the Nets and how they have control over the trade situations. As per Perkins, the Nets are not obliged to fulfill Irving’s trade demands and can exercise what interests them the most. Former Celtics and Cavs big man made a strong stand against Kyrie, following his “unprofessional” attitude in recent seasons.

Brooklyn Nets had Kyrie Irving in 2019, and after 3 seasons he just played a total of 103 games due to various ‘personal’ reasons. Kendrick Perkins had an issue with all the “personal reasons” Kyrie gave for his unavailability. While asking for a 30-year-old guard’s trade, Perkins added that the Nets will do some favors to Kevin Durant, while Kyrie will be at the franchise’s mercy.

Perkins said“If I’m the Nets, I don’t even do Kyrie Irving a favor. I’ll trade Kyrie Irving wherever the hell I want to trade him. I feel like the Brooklyn Nets think they can work hand-in-hand with Kevin Durant, they don’t have to do that with Kyrie. Kyrie didn’t do nothing that they wanted him to do. He disrespected them, why should they do him any favors?”

Irving was expecting a max contract from the Nets but failed to come to terms on a long-term agreement. 2012 Rookie of the season Irving picked up his player-option worth over $36 million for next season and will be under contract for 1 last season. It is considered that he is seeking a move away from the franchise, this season only if his partner KD makes move.

The Nets find themselves on the brink of losing their two best players in the same summer, and the hyped “seven-eleven” era failed miserably for them. Back in 2019, the Brooklyn Nets’ acquisition of Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving made them strong favorites in the championship race.

To make a legitimate claim at the Larry O’Brien Trophy, Brooklyn went all in for the Houston Rockets scoring champion and former MVP, James Harden to play alongside Irving and Kevin Durant. On paper, the team looked solid enough to hand the Nets their 1st ever NBA Championship. But Harden had internal issues with the teammates (reportedly with Kyrie) which the Nets resolved by replacing Harden with Philly’s Ben Simmons – another star to carry the team.

All Nets were hoping for the strongest team on paper to perform on the court. But most of them couldn’t live up to those expectations. Irving, in particular, has played more than 30 games in just one season. His scoring output, however, has been tremendous – but couldn’t benefit the Nets.

He is averaging his career-best 27.1 points on a nightly basis for Brooklyn, but availability continues to be the biggest issue regarding the guard. Also later his impact on the dressing room and the back office was very negative, to say the least. Many people at the Nets franchise were irked by Kyrie’s decisions and wanted him out of the group badly.

Looking at the Brooklyn Net’s ambitious experiment failed, they might have just one player most to blame for – and that’s 2016 NBA Champion Kyrie Irving. He couldn’t be a leader for the team and set a bad example of “unethical” and “unprofessional” behaviors in the league. Where he goes is still uncertain as the Nets are now in the driver’s seat in terms of deciding the guard’s future. And 2008 NBA Champion Perkins is looking for “suiting” treatment from the franchise, as they had lost more than “just” championship cause of him.
