“This $130 Million star is my pick for the MVP” Kendrick Perkins makes bold claim of Anthony Davis winning 2022-23 season MVP
We can all agree that Anthony Davis will be put through a lot of pressure next season coming off a season of consistent injuries. The Los Angeles Lakers were terrible last season and a main contributor was his absence from the court. The team does significantly better offensively when he on the court and his skill on defense is no less.
The 2020-21 season had a similar outcome as the All-Star only appeared for 36 games. The last time he was fully healthy he averaged 26.1 points, 9.3 rebounds, and 3.2 assists per game. His name was in defensive player of the year talks and came very close to also making a run for MVP alongside Giannis Antetokounmpo. Last season, he played 40 games putting 23.2 points, 9.8 rebounds, and 3 assists and many criticized him for not taking care of himself on the court.
Anthony Davis key to Los Angeles Lakers 19th championship
After the brutally upsetting season, the Lakers set their goals on rebuilding their roster. There was a lot of speculation and rumors surrounding Russell Westbrook on whether he will continue with LA after he claimed he was not given a proper opportunity to play at a high level. He only averaged 18.5 points per game and had issues leading the team or even orchestrating plays.
According to league sources, LeBron James and Anthony Davis along with Brodie had a phone call earlier this month and agreed to make use of the opportunity to play again under newly hired head coach Darvin Ham. Despite the confusion, Westbrook had already signed an extension of one-year worth $47 million. But in order for the team to gain title contention, the eyebrow man will have to stay healthy.
Kendrick Perkins predicts Anthony Davis to win 2022-23 season MVP award
Anthony Davis is undoubtedly one of the top tier players in the league when healthy. His time spent in New Orleans is a testament to his offensive prowess. The 29-year old averaged 28.1 point and 11.1 rebounds per game in 2017 roughly one year before joining the Lakers. During his first as a Laker, he made a run for DPOY award finishing second in voting. Kendrick Perkins is one who makes bold predictions.
The analyst said this about Davis, “We can all agree that Anthony Davis is a top-five talent right now. Look, Anthony Davis healthy, I actually have Anthony Davis picked as my MVP winner for the next season… just remember two years ago, we were actually having a conversation about who will we rather, Giannis Antetokounmpo or Anthony Davis. So, when I look at Anthony Davis, and I look at Darvin Ham, a coach who’s gonna put a key in his back. I look at Rasheed Wallace being over there… I got Anthony Davis motivated and… winning the MVP next season.”
