Kendrick Perkins proposes Joel Embiid’s “unstoppable” PAIR UP with All-star PG in Philly

Damian Lillard’s future with the franchise is unclear as ever as new reports are coming out by the minute indicating the end of Dame Time in Portland.

NBA analyst Kendrick Perkins on GetUpEspn proposed a trade that would send Damian Lillard to the Philadelphia 76ers in hopes of witnessing a Dame and Embiid pairing in Philly. Philly and Dame have been linked together in numerous trade ideas with other teams like the Miami Heat also making a push to sign the Portland Trail Blazers’ 7-time All-Star.

Kendrick Perkins gave an exciting take about the Dame and 76ers situation: “If Dame was to go and pair with Joel Embiid, they would instantly put them over the hump and probably make them the favorite coming out of the East. … That duo right there would basically be unstoppable.” In the scenario where Dame Time did land in Philly, there are not many teams that would be able to stop the pairing of two offensive powerhouses in Dame and Joel Embiid.

The Blazers however are still planning to take one last shot at Dame’s aging prime and go full in to build a contending team around the 7-time All-NBA guard. With the new CBA kicking in team building will be a tough nail to move for the management as they already owed Dame $216 million over the next four years. So, even if the front office does decide to build around Dame, there is not much the team can do when the CBA is harsh on big spenders and with Portland not known as a free-agent destination spot.

The Sixers can swoop in to take advantage of the situation by offering a trade package to the Blazers if Lillard asks out of Portland in a scenario where the team choose to retain the third overall pick to draft Scoot Henderson.

Coming right out of a disappointing postseason, the 76ers are likely to make a huge splash in the NBA Free Agency with the team possibly moving on from James Harden and are in play to sign Damian Lillard to finally get over the humps of losing in the second round.

Here is how a trade between the Sixers and the Blazers could work out: the Blazers send Damian Lillard and a 2024 second-round pick in exchange for Tobias Harris, Tyrese Maxey, two second-round picks and to balance the books the Sixers can throw in De’Anthony Melton. This trade works for both as the 76ers will get a premiere superstar in Dame and in return, the Blazers will get back a foundational piece in Maxey and can deal Harris for more picks in the future.

The Blazers Guard is turning 33 years old this coming July and with his declining youth the superstar is in a rush for a Championship. Dame is still one of the best guards in the league and can help any team looking to contend as the star is coming off a 32 points per-game season with a 71-point game masterclass in the regular season.
