Former NBA star seems to be unhappy with how the Brooklyn Nets player Ben Simmons is been performing in the league. Ben performed poorly in the opening game against the New Orleans Pelicans. The analyst also feels that he isn’t someone who’s made to dominate the league.

ESPN analyst Kendrick Perkins on the show “NBA Today”, said: “He just don’t have the mentality, OK?” He’s not that pit bull. He’s not that rottweiler. He’s not that German shepherd that you want to bark and growl and to protect your house.”

Kendrick added, “He’s actually that family dog, OK? that golden retriever that when a stranger ring the doorbell he’s gonna wag his tail and give him a kiss when he walks on in that’s who Ben Simmons is. We cannot sit up here and justify that Steve Nash didn’t put him in position to be successful his mentality is not there.”

Kyrie Irving urges Ben Simmons to play smartly on the court

Kyrie Irving and Ben Simmons

After the Nets star Ben Simmons was fouled out against the New Orleans Pelicans, his teammate Kyrie Irving now wants him to play smartly. Simmons finished with four points, five rebounds, and five assists as the Nets lost their season opener 130-108 at home against the Zion Williamson led squad.

Irving, who finished with 15 points on 6-of-19 from the field, stated that he had spoken to Simmons about the need to avoid foul troubles. He even said that Ben is precious to the team, and they need him on the court, so fouling himself out is not an option.

He also suggested that Ben should play aggressively, but while being smart. Head coach Steve Nash also feels that Ben didn’t play according to his caliber but is ready to give him time to prepare himself.
