“Get past this bulls**t,” Kenny Smith DEMANDS an apology from Charles Barkley amidst his feud with Michael Jordan
Kenny Smith told TMZ that Charles Barkley should apologize to Michael Jordan and put an end to a decade long beef.
Michael Jordan and Charles Barkley
There was a time Michael Jordan and Charles Barkley‘s friendship set the bar for true NBA brotherhood. However, to the disappointment of many, the relationship between two old friends got sour when Barkley openly criticized Jordan’s management of Charlotte Bobcats. Since then, the two old friends have never spoken to each other. Kenny Smith, the co-host on NBA on TNT, asked Barkley to apologize to Jordan.
Smith spoke to TMZ Sports and said that Chuck should apologize to the six-time NBA champion and finally put an end to the tension between them. “Apologize, Chuck,” Smith said about his TNT co-host with a smile. “You were in the wrong. He’s always in the wrong! I don’t want to speak to Chuck today, either.” Of course, Kenny doesn’t think Barkley is always wrong. As when it comes to spilling the truth beans, one can always trust the former Phoenix Suns legend.
TMZ also questioned as to why the basketball legends hadn’t spoken in a decade. According to the former Rockets star, both sides’ stubbornness and competitiveness may have contributed to this. It is not unknown how good and competitive players they were in their prime. But, the former NBA star believes that it is high time for Jordan and Barkley to bury the hatchet and rekindle their friendship.
Charles Barkley says it’s on Michael Jordan to mend their relationship after a decade
According to Charles Barkley’s first-hand account, after criticising Michael Jordan’s ownership of the Bobcats, he received a call from his then-friend and had a heated exchange. “He went ballistic, and he called me and the last thing I heard was ‘motherf–ker, f–k you, you’re supposed to be my boy,’” Barkley recalled when he sat with Matt Barnes and Stephen Jackson on “All The Smoke” podcast. “I said ‘man, I’ve got to do my job.’ We haven’t spoken since that night and that was probably close to 10 years ago,” he added.
Jordan might be right in his way, but one thing about Barkley that even amateur NBA fans know, he speaks without a filter. In conversation with Taylor Rooks, the Phoenix Suns legend said he wanted to get over the nonsense, but he added that it’s on the former Bulls star to mend it, not him. “That’s on his end,” Barkley said. “He was my best friend at the time, and I love the guy and I miss the guy.”
