Kenyon Martin, Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant

Kenyon Martin just spiced up the situation at Brooklyn Nets between Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving with a very different take of his. As after the very disappointing season of the Brooklyn Nets Kenyon Martin wants Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving to part ways and split up in the league. He himself is a former NBA player and has had a career of 15 years in the league. He was drafted first overall in the 2000 NBA draft by the Nets but then got passed around for his career as he didn’t live up to the expectations everyone has around him. Even his recent take was very unexpected because it can cost the franchise its future and the struggles throughout the recent years in building it up will be washed away with no use at all.

It has been three years since Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving decided to team up and join the Brooklyn Nets. KD made the ultimate sacrifice by parting ways with the Stephen Curry led Golden State Warriors were he won his two championships and FMVPs. But chemistry issues arising between him and the dubs was also a problem and he also had to prove his worth to the league as they declared him as a snake. Kyrie Irving just jumped in thinking of a brighter vision. But honestly, both of them have had no success so far together. As they have two early exits from the playoffs and one came in a form of a sweep by the Jayson Tatum led Boston Celtics this postseason.

The Nets already had a very disappointing season and the sweep just makes it worse. They battled through injuries and chemistry issues with the Big Three splitting up as James Harden forced his way out of Nets blaming Kyrie Irving and Steve Nash’s system. Kenyon Martin appearing on SiriusXM NBA Radio discussed the situation and had his fingers pointed at Kyrie Irving as he thinks he’s the right man to blame for the terrible season.

Kenyon Martin on Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving’s situation at Brooklyn Nets

Kenyon Martin discussing the situation at Nets in regard to Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving quoted: “I would have had a major, major issue with Kyrie Irving if I was Kevin Durant. I could have went anywhere else and picked anyone else to play with. But we made the decision together to come here and do this. And this season, you failed me as a friend, as a teammate, as a brother, as a competitor. All of those things you failed me at. Ain’t no way I’m out here exchanging hand-shakes with you and you did that to me. We signed up for this together. So you say you give a voice to the voiceless. Okay cool, what about us? What about these people, what about these guys that you have to compete with, who you signed up to do this with? Are we just supposed to sit back and accept this? Nah, that was unacceptable to me.”

Further, Kenyon Martin giving his view on them parting ways with each other quotes: “And I think he did pick the wrong situation, especially from where he came from. He could have stayed in Golden State, they could have ironed out their differences. They could have ran the league for the foreseeable future. But he made the decision to come and play with Kyrie. If not him, then trade me. He has to go man because it’s not about us… We athletes are selfish to a certain degree, but when that selfishness comes before our team and what we’re trying to accomplish, then that’s a problem.”

Kenyon Martin is not wrong with his view and perspective for the situation. As the reason for most of their losses is Kyrie Irving due to his vaccination saga and other issues. But the one to get blamed for all of it is the superstar Kevin Durant who battled it all while single handedly carrying the Nets as even James Harden was out of form when needed the most and being un-loyal also left the franchise. But what many around the league think is splitting up won’t be a good outcome of the situation. As the team is going to be better next season with the addition of Ben Simmons and others which also raises the chances of them winning the eastern conference as they always had the potential to do so.
