The Phoenix Suns are on the brink of elimination as they head into Game 6. Playing the Denver Nuggets, the Suns were blown out on the road as Nikola Jokic led his side to a 3-2 series lead. Both Kevin Durant and Devin Booker played well. However, Durant cost a chunk of points with his five turnovers. As Phoenix heads home for Game 6, they were hit with an unfortunate update on point guard Chris Paul.
Chris Paul was injured during Game 2 against the Denver Nuggets in the Western Conference Semi-Finals. It was in the third quarter when Paul jumped up for a rebound and landed holding his groin. He hobbled across the court for the next play and looked in discomfort. Paul walked off the court shortly after and was out of Games 3, 4 and 5. Ahead of Game 6, NBA insider Shams Charania announced that Paul is listed out of Game 6 due to the persistence of the groin injury.
Chris Paul has been a formidable player for the Phoenix Suns. He averages 15.1 points per game ever since he joined the organization in 2020. His experience has been of immeasurable value to younger players like Devin Booker and Deandre Ayton. However, in his absence, the Suns will only lose a dependable guard but also an NBA veteran. Moreover, the pressure on Kevin Durant is likely to build even more as the elimination game creeps up.
NBA Twitter reacts to Chris Paul’s injury update

Following Paul’s recent injury update, fans aren’t too optimistic about the Phoenix Suns’ chances of making the playoffs. Firstly, the confidence in Kevin Durant’s ability to lead a side has diminished following game 5. Moreover, Devin Booker and Deandre Ayton’s lack of experience against Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray might go against them. Here are some fan reactions to Chris Paul’s injury update:
Although they play at home, if Phoenix manages to force Game 7 they would have to play Denver on the road. So far, both teams haven’t lost a single game at home. In this position, the Suns cannot afford to lose any of the remaining games, as Denver already has three wins. However, many fans are speculating that the Suns are trying to buy time for Chris Paul. Whether or not that is true will remain uncertain. As of now, the Suns play Game 6 without Paul to keep their season alive.
